They might not be morning people, but I so agree about that delightful tablecloth.
This was labeled breakfast in Germany 1938.

I should have known, grumpy people and this furnishing. Looks kind of familiar. But breakfast is unlikely. Cake and the “good dishes” in the morning would have broken every convention back then.
