“Let us celebrate the occasion with wine and sweet words.”
Hey, isn’t it Wednesday? I thought she didn’t post on Wednesday. What going on?
Well, it’s this way: my posting is a bit of self-aggrandizement as today is my birthday, and I wanted to share it with all of you, my Coffee friends.
I always think birthdays are the most important of all days. Most of us celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, we all celebrate Thanksgiving and Halloween has been big for years. The only day that is just ours is our birthdays, and I believe they deserve fireworks, horns, lots of confetti and maybe even a small parade. Around here the parade would always have bagpipes, but even a fife or two would do.
Birthdays celebrate us.
I have lived another wonderful year and am now starting on the next. How lucky can one person get?

Happiest of happy birthday wishes, Kat! May the day be filled with laughter, loved ones, and, of course, lots of music. Thanks for sharing the day with us!

Thanks, sprite
May all the wishes you offer me come true-it would be a perfect birthday!

It will be a perfect birthday. 5 years ago you took the time to give me a tour of parts of the cape, even though it was your birthday. Your birthday is also special to me ’cause that’s when I was able to meet you. Happy Birthday, Kat. You are indeed, a lucky woman–and we are fortunate to have you in our lives.
Waving with one hand and carrying a cake in the other,
Lori

Lori,
I remember our tour-it was fun! I went to places I hadn’t been in years.
Thanks, Lori!

Christer,
I posted a while after midnight. Because I was still awake, I decided it was a perfect time to write then I wouldn’t have to hurry in the morning.
I’ll drop by and visit you today!

Have a very wonderful birthday, Do something special for yourself. Birthdays celebrate a person’s past, present and future. When you stop having them it’s a bad thing. Does the title of the Beatles song give us a clue as to how many birthdays you have had?
August 17, 2011 at 10:31 am
Bob,
Yup, that’s the clue!
Thanks, I’ll be going to my Wednesday play but first to our dinner together. Tomorrow, out for dinner with a friend then another evening with friends on Friday.
I have deck time all set for today with my new book!

Sara,
Thanks! I think we never do have to meet to become friends. We get to share through Coffee and that’s what friends do!
Happy Birthday for you too!!

Pete,
Born in the wee early hours, the only one born at the time. My father was in the waiting room pacing when a nurse came in and asked him if he was Mr. Ryan. He looked around at the empty room and said, ” Who do the hell do you think I am?”
August 17, 2011 at 12:15 pm
A good day for you, ma’am! Only a faint echo of that long-ago day when you drew your first breath. May you have many more echoes.
My mother never tired of telling me about the day before I was born, and the time of day I was born. Wish she were still around to tall me again.

Rick,
My father loved to tell that story. Another piece is my aunt was getting married on what ended up to be the day I was born. My grandparents didn’t live far from the hospital, and mt father went back and forth with progress reports. My aunt was livid, “I need my beauty sleep. I’m getting married in the morning.”

I just got back this morning (here it is the 18th of August) and I decided to catch up with you. So glad I did as now I can wish you a most Happy Birthday, Kat! And many more! (mine was in June and I’m hoping for at least a couple more myself).
Was on a short (supposedly five day, but ended up more than two weeks) vacation that my daughter in law insisted I go on as payment for staying with her boys this past year. Yes, it has already been a year. The trip was excellent, even though it seemed to be rather self extending. Seemed like everyday there was an event that just seemed natural to side track for. Met loads of nice people, had lots of excellent meals, saw lots of things and even took a few pictures. Well actually more than a few, actually more than I had planned on (roughly 6,000). Now is the task of going through them all and tossing at least 80% to stay within the 80/20 rule. One day I shall learn to keep my finger off the button! LOL!
Anyhow, I very much enjoyed your postings again and felt quite an association with many of them.
Again, I hope your birthday was the best and that you treated yourself VERY well.
Carl

Carl,
It’s still the 17th here and my birthday, glad you checked.
I think we both should be wishing for a whole lot more. There is still so much to see and hear and taste. I think you deserved the two weeks of pampering!
Digital cameras are a joy. You can take hundreds then winnow to a few hundred. I just keep snapping!
It was a great birthday!!
PS Don’t forget I’m leaving for Ghana on the 27th and will only post a couple of times from an internet cafe when I’m there!
