Gary is an old friend from the Sydney folk days of the 1960’s and has had an amazing life.He wrote “Sometime Lovin'” for PPM but when asked to come to America in the 1970’s he was unable to tour because the US Government wouldn’t allow him a visa because of his anti war songs, he eventually went to live in London after a no 1 hit in Australia of “I get a kick out of you” by Cole Porter.( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzxqrEmoUWk )On returning to Australia in the 1980’s Gary became a Catholic priest and has lived in the Riverina district of NSW for many years.Last year he rereleased many of his iconic albums on his own label – http://garyshearston.com/

      sblake,
I should have known that you’d have run into Gary somewhere in your musical career. You have always met the most amazing people. You have just given me gar more information than I knew. I stopped at knowing he is Australian, and now I find out what great songs he’s written. The US government has always been a bit paranoid around certain issues. I’ll have to look up more of his songs. I have this and only one other.
