I looked him up in case he was real. The closest I got was Sir Albert Gerald Stern. Absolutely unknown!

Al Stern was part of the group which developed the original tanks, in 1915-17. His bio, though, in wiki is rather inadequate.

Eastern is out of business and dressing up to go on a flight is totally out of style. The major airlines have replaced the Greyhound bus.

In those days flying was too expensive for most people so a flight meant Sunday clothes. Now comfy is far more important. You’re right about airlines replacing Greyhound. Everybody flies now.
