Little Trip to Heaven (On the Wings of Your Love): Tom Waits

This is from Closing Time, Tom Waits first album which was released in 1973. I think I’ve posted just about every song from this album.

That’s a great album, nice mellow voice in that period.

My favorite (of the ones I’ve heard) is Tom’s “Small Change” album. Gutsier, rougher voice and much rougher subject matter, mostly revolving around alcohol, gambling and women you wouldn’t want your mother to meet. Sheer genius, that album, not a bad song on it. I was going to name a few favorites but I just ran down the list and thought, “No point. They’re all good.”

Thanks, Ted, for the recommendation as I don’t have that and I am a Waits fan. It’s now on my wish list so I won’t forget.

Ah, Tom Waits. You don’t have to say a thing about this man. Just have to listen to his records.
“The Heart Of Saturday Night” still resonates after all these years Kat.
Can’t believe it was so long ago.
As Billy Joe Shaver wrote, “Where does it go, the good Lord only knows”
Right now I’m listening to Leon Russel singing “Funny How Time Slips Away”

      Pete,
Leon, another favorite of mine I haven’t listened to in a while-thanks for the reminder.

I don’t like to give time all that much thought. I figure it moves without any help from me!
