Saw Tom Rush and Jonathan Edwards (wonderful, wonderful show!) last week, and JE talked about John Denver making it all possible for a guy and his guitar. He and some others are thinking of a tribute album. Sometimes a John Denver song just hits the spot – he can make me ache for I know not what.
Nan,
I feel exactly the same about a John Denver song. Sometimes I think it’s because he is gone; other times he touches a memory or a feeling in me. Yesterday just seemed to be a perfect John Denver day so I listened to several of his songs before I posted one.
I think my very favorite is Back Home Again with ‘supper on the stove’ – it is just so wonderful. ‘sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend’ When I first heard it I lived in town. And now I live on that ‘old farm.’
Nan,
I remember playing A John Denver cassette in my car and singing along with the songs. The for a while I didn’t listen to much John Denver. I just sort of forgot about him. I don’t know what happened, but I was lucky enough to find him again.
