It was canned spinige (17th century spelling) served in the school cafeteria that put me off it for years. Took fifteen years and my wife to convince me there were other ways to serve spinach than cooked into a slimy green mess.

I think it did the same for me. I still won’t eat cooked spinach except in Greek food. I prefer spinach in a salad: still crisp and alive.
