Oh NO! I still have a record or two of hers. I honestly can’t remember if I saw her perform.. I’ll have to ask a friend with a memory left. I am very sad.

I’m heartsick! Hadn’t heard this news and can hardly believe it. I’ve been a huge Phoebe fan ever since her first album came out way back when… followed her through thick and thin while she struggled all those years with Valerie (her daughter). Hadn’t heard she’d been sick (I guess I was used to not hearing about her for long stretches of time). And now this. Such an underrated and underappreciated talent. Glad I was lucky enough to see her live a couple of times. She was phenomenal.

      im6,
I’m sorry I had to be the one to let you know. It was on the radio this morning when I heard it. They talked about on her giving up music for a while to take care of her daughter. It was a quick mention so I thought I should honor her with a song.

  3. She had not really recovered from her brain hemorrhage. I visited her web sight about 6 months ago. I was a huge fan and have all her albums.

Such a strange day, as Poly Styrene of X Ray Specs also passed away. I remember her living across the street from me on Moore Park Road in Chelsea.

    My Dear Hedley,
I had to look her up and then went to youtube to give a listen. I hate that she didn’t get her fair share of life. To die at 53 just isn’t right.

Here is a brilliant clip of Phoebe & Linda Ronstadt on Saturday Night Live way back in the 70’s

    Enjoy

So sad! She was one of those unique voices/talents that always seemed to be there even though the tides of pop music/culture were chruning all around her. “Poetry Man” is my favorite of all her songs.
