“Garbage” was written by a Cornell University graduate, Bill Steele, in 1969. (Full story available here: http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/April09/SteeleGarbage.da.html.) Like Pete himself, Bill is still alive and kicking and singing from time to time.

I’ve always loved this song and of course I am a Pete Seeger fan, and yes I’ve seen him numerous times. Thanks Fred, for putting the origins of the song, I always thought Seeger wrote it. Over to You Tube to see if I can find him singing this.
    Still Waving,
    Lori

      Lori,
I can’t imagine there are non-Pete Seeger fans. It almost sounds un-American!

The web site Fred posted is quite interesting.

    Thank you, Bill
I have downloaded the songs, and now I have to convert them to MP3’s so I can play them on Coffee.

The only one I’ve done so far is Garbage so I could hear it-I would have played it Earth Day, but I’ve got it filed for next year!

    Thanks again
