“Do not let Sunday be taken from you If your soul has no Sunday, it becomes an orphan.”
Yesterday I filled all the feeders and even fed the spawns of Satan. I had a bag of peanuts in the shell and lined peanuts one after another on the deck rail. The squirrel arrived about a minute after I’d left, sniffed the first peanut then took his time eating them. He even sat down at each peanut to give it his full attention. It was interesting watching him size up the peanut to decide the best way to open it. I also took a trash bag and cleared the backyard of papers and plastic flower pots which the wind had blown from underneath the deck. I found a couple of empty cat food cans stolen by Gracie and sneaked into the yard where she cleaned them out. Gracie trash picks, but I never catch her. She is adept at being quiet and sneaky.
It is actually 51° but I think it feels chillier, the house especially. This time of year the air outside is sometimes warmer than the inside. I should push Fern over and make her share the sun with me. Cody just arrived from down the street to play with Gracie. He comes to my front door and barks so I’ll know he’s there though Gracie usually spots him first.
Tiny buds have appeared on most of the trees. My wild rose bush has some on every branch. The crocus are finally up in the front of the house, and I found some daffodils in the backyard when I was cleaning. I don’t know how they got there as I didn’t plant them. Maybe there are flower elves just as there are shoemaker ones.
When I was a kid, Sunday was a quiet day, a family day. We went to church and sometimes we’d visit my grandmother. My Sundays now also have a pattern. I had a cup of coffee and read one newspaper then went out for breakfast. I called my sister at 11 for our usual Sunday conversation where we catch up with each other up and chat about books and movies. When I finish here, I’ll read my other two papers. I’ll probably take a short nap on the couch in the later afternoon. Tonight my friends and I will watch The Amazing Race and have dinner together.
I love my Sundays!

We reached 64F today and I have to say it felt wonderful! But temperatures will drop soon I´m afraid. We´ve been out almost all day, I cleaning up in the flower beds and my dogs following me close behind looking if I dig up something worth eating 🙂 I did dig up a couple of dandelion roots which they love to eat, so it was a good day for us all 🙂
They don´t get my paper here on sundays so I´ll get todays and tomorrows newspaper tomorrow instead. I don´t like that but they simply refuse to drive all the way from Falköping for just one paper to me 🙂 🙂
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer,
It is warmer tonight than it was during the day. Gracie and I went for a short ride and she loved it with her head out the window.
I get 3 Sunday papers and love all of them. It is a feast of newsprint.

It’s a balmy 83º today – too nice to read the paper (except for Doonesbury) so I brought out and installed the water barrel, repaired the water pipe leading to the outside spigot and started the fill/drain/fill/drain cycle for my garden pond to get it clean enough to bring the fish out from the basement aquarium.
Sandy photographed her garden and did a little rearranging of pots and planters and is now watching an episode of Tenko while working on her ladybug quilt.
Andy took off for Chicago to see his girlfriend. Her birthday’s this week.
The dog’s sleeping, as usual. But, after 14 years on this earth he’s pretty much done everything he’s ever wanted to do, so why not take a good afternoon nap. Meaning, of course, the entire afternoon.
Now that I’ve finished catching up on my blogs & FB obligations, I’ll head back out to the yard and refill the pond again.
Have a good Sunday!

John,
I can’t begin to imagine when I can use balmy to describe the weather. Today was in the low 50’s and tonight is as warm. Maybe that will mean a warmer day tomorrow.
Everyone but the dog was so busy today. My garden has the early bloomers, the bulbs, and I am delighted as they were just planted last year. The bad news, though, is none of the tulips appeared-the squirrels munched. When my garden is finally in bloom, I love taking pictures.
I must admit I did little today. You make me feel like a bit of a slug!
Hope your week is wonderful!

Kat,
The high on Friday was 51º.
There’s still hope!

Sundays were family days when I was growing up. This next generation treats it like something has to be planned. See a movie, spend the day at the beach, go spend a hundred bucks on Disney or MGM. Boating, fishing, even tonight we get the baby because Rebecca and her husband have tomorrow off from work and will leave to spend the day in Miami. We get Mr housewrecker at 7PM or as George Bush would call him “a terrist”. He’s 16 months of 100% energy and thankfully he drops by close to his bedtime hour. But you gotta love em when they are that small and don’t realize what they are doing is bad.

Z&Me,
Sundays were the same for me when I was a kid. On a really nice Sunday my father would sometimes takes us for a ride, and we really liked those. In the summer, we’d sometimes go to the beach. My mother would pack a lunch and off we’d go.
I can’t believe your grandson is already 16 months old!

I shall continue watching the vid-cam of an eagle nesting. For a change, I might watch video of four different nests.
Cheers

Minicapt,
I have been dropping in to watch the eagles. I’ve been visiting two different nests. One seems far more active than the other.
Right now baseball has my attention.
