I have found the very first recording of that song, by the Haydn Quartet (1908) Here’s the link :
http://www.archive.org/browse.php?collection=78rpm&field=creator
Write Take Me Out To The Ball Game in the Search space. Press enter. Then you will see : Billy Murray & Haydon Quartet. Here it is, although Billy Murray didn’t sing on that record.
Thanks, Mario I downloaded it for my baseball file and am listening now. It is in far better condition than the 1908 one I posted.
And I got curious about Edward Meeker. He was a vaudeville comedian. Here he is in the Edison studios: http://www.npr.org/programs/lnfsound/gallery/edison/5.html
Thanks, Ralph I love the jokesters on the side holding their noses as he sings!
