“Grin like a dog and wander aimlessly.”

Last night it was in the 20’s. Today it should get as warm as 39°. If I’m sounding facetious, you’re right. Even the sun and the blue sky aren’t inviting. I’m glad the feeders are filled so I don’t have to venture to the deck. From the window, I can see a few goldfinches munching. Their colors are still winter muted. My friends the chickadees are also here. They are such lively birds I love watching them. In summer they zoom over my head as I sit on the deck, and they let me stand close to them as they eat. I have tried feeding them from my hand, but I get impatient. Maybe this summer I’ll learn to wait.

I’m reading during the day, but I find myself house bored. I’m almost thinking of cleaning out cabinets but I don’t want to go too crazy. My back feels good today after yesterday and a day of nothing so I suppose I could give it another day. I want to be out and about with dog and camera taking a ride, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

My imagination has always been the favorite part of my mind. When I was a kid, I’d read books and picture the characters and where they lived. I’d visit ancient lands and foreign cities. I’d dream of places that have long been gone and visit places I never imagined I’d actually see. My geography book was almost like a novel to me. The pictures were of cities, mountains, rivers, statues, and camels in long lines crossing the desert. I think I made that trip several times and slept in a tent decorated with bright colors, pillows and beads. I shopped in bazaars and markets. I never shared my dreams, my imaginings, with anyone.

When I was 12, my girl scout troop went to New York. We climbed the stairs at the Statue of Liberty, and I saw the city from the top of the Empire State Building. We walked through Greenwich Village, and I took in everything. The city had come alive from the pages of my geography book, and it was the most foreign place I had ever visited. I was hooked.

I knew that my dreams were now a list of places I was going to visited. They had left my imaginings and become part of my real world.

The temperature fell to 14,2F here last night and it barley made it over 36 during the day. But it has been sunny and almost no wind so I enjoyed it anyway 🙂

I was much the same when I was young and still am 🙂 Today it´s a way of staying sane when the job gets to boring :-)I travel up the Amazon river or down the Mississippi river in a steam boat. Or I travel out in to space to go where no man gone before and I think those are the daydreams I enjoy most 🙂 Sometimes I make up stories I plan on telling my sisters grandchildren, but never do in the end 🙂 🙂

    Have a great day now!
    Christer.

      Christer,
It has been cold all day long. Even Gracie stayed outside only a little while. She tried the lounge in the sun but the wind was too cold.

Lately I’ve been planning my trip back to Ghana. I am still in the stage of figuring everything ut. I know what I need for medical and when to get my visa. I wish I had some friends going so I could share the experience. The planning and the hoping hot heat are keeping me going.

Maggie threw in a solid effort this morning yelling and shouting to leave her boudoir around 7.30 am and marched outside to confront deer as well as do terrier stuff.
I confined my morning to Thin Lizzy’s brilliant “Live and Dangerous” and the England team handing it to the Welsh (well 2-0 anyway) .

      My Dear Hedley,
Maggie, at least, has something to keep her busy. Gracie had a play date when her friend Cody came down and she barked at FedEx. I envy her exciting day. Did Maggie see a deer?

My day was reading, doing a laundry, taking a nap and now spring season baseball.

Maggie enjoyed the treat of deer in the front garden, well worth a bark and a chase.she is really fond of the UPS truck and has very high alert periods where she perches on a chair and yells at anything that moves.

Wednesday is weight down day, then I need a procedure on Friday…arrive spring and free me from all this

      Z&Me,
I didn’t see that movie until I was older, and I wanted that desert and a camel. I remember when we flew over it on the way to Ghana, and I was glued to the window.

    Hi Kat,
This morning I started organizing my knitting corner while waiting for my brother to arrive. Not a good idea. I found two projects, very well advanced, but I have no idea what the patterns are.
My brother came to install the bathroom vanity. Murphy’s Law came with him. We had to cut parts of the cabinet out to accommodate the pipes and the baseboards. The water pipes we had installed in October were not long enough to reach the faucets of the vanity. He dropped a part and it broke so we have to go off to Home Depot to get a replacement.
I retired to the couch with my Kindle and my dog and proceeded to lose myself in an Amelia Peabody adventure.

      Hi Caryn,
I knew it-organizing and cleaning can lead to nothing good. I’m afraid to touch my cabinet but if I get bored enough I know I will, and I know I’ll be sorry.

As soon as you saw missing patterns, you should have figured it was a bad omen. The whole bathroom experience would have soured me on upgrading anything else.

You made the best choices: your dog, your Kindle and your novel!
