The Weavers are of course one of my favorite. Their history is fascinating– being blacklisted for so long. I’ve seen Pete Seeger and Ronnie Gilbert who lives in my neck of the woods, sang a few songs for a film about the late writer Tillie Olsen.
Good choice ( as always… you seem to have traveling on your mind).

      Lori,
I knew they were one of your favorites. One of the reasons so many folk singers refused to play on the TV program Hootenanny was they would not hire Pete because of his being blacklisted.

It’s that trip this summer grabbing hold of me.

It is interesting to contemplate what a modern blacklist would cover and how it would be implemented. We have SO many venues and connectional paths, it just seems impossible today.

      Thank goodness!

        Rick,
I can’t begin to imagine a blacklist from this time. There are so many groups, fringe and otherwise, some really crazy people on the airwaves and newspaper columnists whose opinions differ wildly from one another and just about everyone else.

        I echo your thank goodness!

  2. Kat,

They have a much much better version sans chorus & orchestra – do you have (want) it?

    Mark,
I am sorry for the delay. I did get it, downloaded and added it to my Weaver file. I like it so much more than the one I posted. These are my Weavers!
