    The subject of the song is the South Saskatchewan Regiment, which was part of the Dieppe Raid 19 Aug 1942.
    “The South Saskatchewan battalion left 84 dead on Green Beach and 89 more, including Merritt and eight other officers, were taken prisoner.”
