E aka Mark Everett has a fascinating background (see eelstheband.com) and a series of disks that are nothing short of stupendous. “Electro Shock Blues” described a profound sense of loss of his Mother and Sister, and for me there was a time that it really helped.
“Blinking lights and Revelations” is an extraordinary double disc culminating in “things that the grandchildren should know”…the perfect song from E and extraordinarily well suited for KTCC.
Kat..what a thrill to find The Eels today…happy weekend
My Dear Hedley,
I thought of you when I posted this. I remembered they are a favorite of yours.
I thank you for the suggestions as I really don’t know anything about them. I heard this song and loved it immediately.
Given my finances (I just bought a mac and an iPad) buying albums is on a waiting list but I did use emusic to download “things that the grandchildren should know”
Funny that…I just did the whole iMac and iPad combo. There is a really cool article in today’s Sunday Times (of London) regarding David Hockney and iPad art.
After my Mother died of cancer, electro shock blues quantified the loss and yet at the end burst out with a sense of hope. Thank you for remembering my attachment to The Eels
And on a quiet Sunday morning with the house empty except for me and Maggie, I am listening to the Bob Mono Box…on disc a week being revisited and reexamined…today it’s the pleasures of Freewheeling and that iconic album cover
I shared two EELS U-TUBE on my wall. And the muppet movie. BTW, I can’t get a decent turntable ( remember those) hooked up to a receiver. Can I call you about that? Funny, you should mention To Kill A Mockingbird as I just borrowed the book from the library. I know my posts must be out of order, I haven’t figured your system out yet.

Before eels, Mark Oliver Everett released his debut “A Man Called E” under the name E. Here’s a link to my favorite cut from the album, “Hello Cruel World.” Wonderful pop music with a help hand from Parthenon Huxley (P Hux).

I normally don´t like this song especially much but I really like this one! It was the name of the group that made me interested 🙂

Sorry about your tooth, Kat. I just had mine fixed. This is lovely; I never heard of the EELs before, and now want to find out more about them.

This particular tune has vocals very reminiscent of Peter Gabriel (to me anyhow).

s,
In truth, I don’t remember Peter Gabriel’s voice. Now I’m going hunting.
