Bubba,
I looked velcro up and it was developed during the 50’s but not added to clothing until the early 60’s.

This picture is highly conflicted. The silver Christmas tree (and yes girls we did have one) which screams 1960s and the velco shoes..although I do not agree with Bubba on the time line ..I remember buying my son a really nice pair of Velcro nikes some twenty years ago..perfect for a four year old

My Dear Hedley,
You’re right about this screaming 1960’s. The man could have bought those shoes about the time you were buying nikes.

The velcro straps are used to quickly change into his shoes after the swim phase of a triathlon

Bill,
That makes sense. They are so quick to come on and off. I figure when I’m old, everything I wear will have velcro.
