I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.

The visiting nurse tells me I can be sitting here at the computer for a half hour at a time. For me, that’s about a paragraph. I, of course, tend to ignore all advice and then pay dearly and wonder why. Yesterday was payback for writing Coffee but here I am again today.

The last side of the house is being shingled. It is part of this room so I can add banging to the list of annoyances. Yesterday, though, I fell asleep in the afternoon anyway.

I’m watching all the Christmas shows at night to get me in the mood for the season. There is no time I love more than Christmas. The world seems colorful despite the bare trees and the empty branches. The nights are bright with stars which shine sharper in the chill of the night. I await the first snowflake and love how the colored lights shine through the snow. The music of Christmas plays all day in my house. I remember most the songs I learned in school like Up on the Housetop and Rudolph. Gene Autry was my favorite. The cartoons on TV were primitive by today’s standards, but the first showing of Suzy Snowflake meant Christmas was getting closer. Frosty usually arrived next, and I always sang along with great glee and completely off-key. It never mattered. Christmas is forgiving, the time when we all share a spirit and an enthusiasm. My house is not decorated except for some greenery my dear friends gave me, but I’m okay. I have the spirit.

Once you have the spirit, you know the next obvious aspect of that, don’t you? You have to GIVE IT AWAY to others. Hmmm. How to do that while cloistered away in the house/castle, surrounded by the moat of distance? EASY – SCHMEASY. Just sneak off to concoct a blog post for folks around the world to consume (while they wipe tiny crumbs of spirit and love off of their chins after they finish the product), making sure you do a back-up each time you take a break (from sitting on your couch) to add another paragraph to be posted at the conclusion of your effort.

And here we are, with you basking in the afterglow of the post. How do you feel now?

      Rick,
I love when I post and am so glad for the good days. It seemed that I needed to write every other day to manage the pain best, but now, starting tomorrow, I will be the half hour at a time blogger. I so miss writing and hearing from you all.

Check tomorrow and keep that chin clean!

No Christmas shows on Tv yet over here. I guess they will start after Saint Lucia or the week after.

I do like all the christmas songs and I wouldn´t miss Donald Duck at christmas eve for anything 🙂 🙂 But I don´t care much for the rest. But I am looking forward to my one week vacation between christmas and new year 🙂

Have a great day and take care!
    Christer.

      Christer,
I think I am filled with so much sugar my teeth will rot, and all those movies are to blame. There is always a happy ending. I was up until 3 this morning watching them. I think I am addicted!

The spirit is everything. You’re in good shape. It might be a most memorable Christmas yet. Just try remembering a Christmas when you were sick as a kid. Those are the worst. I had tonsilitis one Christmas and confined to bed and because it was contagious none of my friends could visit. My Mother was wonderful to me then and made it bearable, I guess. She dressed up as Mrs Claus and gave me gifts but the biggest gift was her.

      Z&Me,
Today is such a good day that I feel better than I have despite the pain. The Thanksgiving stuff got put away and my house was cleaned. Rosana and Lee come every two weeks, and I called and asked them to come for extra time today. They put everything back om the walls (removed because of the shingling), made me coffee, fed Gracie, brought stuff down the cellar and made my house shine. I took a sort of shower at the sink and two friends came to visit. I can’t help but grin from ear to ear today!!

      Greg,
It is still magical! I sat here with a huge grin and sang along, didn’t even forget any of the words. It is officially the Christmas season!!
      Thanks, Greg

we are doing things a bit differently this year too!
my youngest is 11 and this is truly the first year, for sure, that she understands that Santa works through others, so we have been collecting coats and canned food. this morning because they were out of school(Immaculate Conception) we visited the local senior citizen home with her cousins and passed out homemade cupcakes and smiles. no tree here yet but the stockings were up for St Nick and we headed to the mall for my annual visit.Christmas music is playing all day…i really love glen campbell and john denver. LoveLOveLOVeLOVE the music here today!

Christmas is love and family and giving. It is so wonderful that your children understand the spirit of the season.

I’m happy you love today’s music.

It is always lovely to read what you write, but please don’t overdo it. How about some haiku? ;-)I do love your spirit…..

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      Sara,
Sometimes I just get started and the words fall out of my fingers, and I can’t stop. You are right though as I do have not so good days after time at the computer. I’m planning on every other day.

The music is wonderful, as I’ve said before. For Chanukah I don’t have many decorations. Kat, I love your spirit. Please don’t overdo it.

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      Lori,
I figure spirit is what the season is about, for Christmas and for Chanukah.

I promise to keep an eye on my health.

Perhaps your friends could get your decorations out for you, Kat. You could putter a bit placing some but taking it easy. I love Suzy Snowflake! Regards.

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      Cuidado,
I have the ugliest artificial scrub pine tree you ever saw. I use only old ornaments and never take them off. The scrub pine is covered and stored and ready for the season. I’ll have it brought up and plugged in. It will be lovely.

    Kat
As we approach the weekend and Gaudete Sunday (wink wink) I hope that you are feeling better and at least can read greetings from your friends. Perhaps a few minutes with Maddy Prior will help that back !
