“Morning is the fresh page of nature.”

The day is beautiful, but the cold settles in tonight, down in the 30’s, and the next few days will be chilly.

There is something about mornings. Sunlight angles into my house from the front, and a beam of light shines on the floor below the door where the cats settle into the warmth. The air smells clean. Mornings are cooler. The sun has yet to have its way with the day. Dew makes the grass glisten and frost makes it crunch underfoot. When I get the papers on a cold morning, the first steps outside take my breath away. I used to be a night person, up all hours, but now I savor the mornings. I read my papers and drink my coffee and leisurely start the day.

Crisp fall mornings are my favorites. I remember walking to school. The sidewalk near the baseball fields had no trees to protect it, and a cold wind always blew across and made us run from there to the sidewalk beyond the railroad tracks, the part sheltered by tree branches and the houses along one side. I remember leaves strewn across the sidewalk. They were wet from the dew and clung to the walk. Yellow is the color I remember the most.

No matter where I travel, I love the early mornings. It’s when the tourists are all asleep and the world goes about its business. Store owners unfurl awnings or unlock gates and market women set up their wares. Trucks rumble on the streets and make deliveries. Nobody ever notices me. They’re too busy. I get to be a part of all I see.

The past few weeks, when I was out in the desert – my friend and I took a number of morning hikes through Saguaro National Park.

Simply amazing. Great exercise – in a terrific environment. You’d see 2 or 3 other humans until you got back to the trail head.

More of this in my (near) future. ๐Ÿ™‚

      S,
The few times I have been in Arizona, I went unto the desert and was in awe of the landscape and the plants. For you, it has to be quite a change, and it sounds like a good one.

It will be. I’m ready. I’m sure you recall that online conversation we had awhile back – finally doing something about it.

A couple more weeks and I’m gone. I hope I beat the snow out of here!

As You know Iยดve always been a morning person even though Iยดve tried to change it from time to time ๐Ÿ™‚

The best is in spring or early summer when the sun goes up around 4 and my dogs and I are all alone in the world ๐Ÿ™‚ or in autumn when the sun has gone up and weยดve had frost during the night. Those days it feels fantastic to walk down to the creek and see how the mist rises from the water and blurs the sun beams ๐Ÿ™‚

Cold here today and the first snow has fallen. Thankfully it melted away as soon as the sun came back again ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a great day!
    Christer.

      Christer,
I love your morning pictures with the sun rising between the trees.

The morning mist on the ocean is one of the most beautiful sights here so I know what you mean. I love the summer mornings the best when the air is cool, the birds are singing and the day smells of flowers.

      Too, too early for snow!

You forgot the scent of freshly brewed coffee. I smell it and my instinct is to drink it down like a cold beer. There is nothing better first thing in the morning than that first cup of coffee. And secondly, nothing more refreshing than a cold beer after mowing the lawn. Something about the two go to gether like American Apple Pie. I put in my winter garden today and loved every minute of it. My feral family is checking out the sage. I didn’t know cats liked sage. Uuuuuummmmm.

      Z&Me,
I do love the smell of freshly brewed coffee, and making a new pot is my first morning activity.

The garden here is ready for winter. The stalks have been cut and a few plants moved.

I didn’t know cats liked sage either.

    S,
That’s what I guessed. I wish you well, my friend.
