Autumn to May: Peter, Paul and Mary
This is from their first album which was released in 1962. It was the first one I bought. I think I bought all of theirs.
Okay, this song is cursed. It just won’t load. It must be the curse of NPS. I’ll keep trying.

[Hmmm, he muses…] the ONE comment here I can’t reply directly to is Kat’s, which contains this text, “I can’t imagine why those old records aren’t in the public domain.”
Reply: Kat, just check out what Congress (with the prodding of the ASCAP and other lobbying groups) have done to the copyright laws. I think it is death + 75 years right now. That would leave all the copyrights intact, even to 99% of the 78 rpm records around, much less all the 33.3333333 rpm records and 45 rpm records.

Rick,
I can go to sites like the Internet Archive and legally download songs. Many of those date from the 1920’s but there are also songs from the 1940’s, which are under the 75 years you mentioned. I guess that is why I assumed they were in the public domain.

Wow – posting this calls for you to be Stookeynated…I can hardly wait for the backlash, please post it in detail.

Chris,
I’ll pass along the info after the orientation and the presentation of the prison garb.

My Dear Hedley,
The Stookeynator does not scare me!

He should scare you, Kat.
Music blogs are dropping like flies. And not by the choice of the blogger. Over a dozen blogs I followed have been shut down in the past 6 weeks. Most featured out of print LPs and one actually had only 78’s from the 40’s. The RIAA can be very, very, nasty.

John,
He seems to hunt down songs of his own, not usually those of the trio. In the past, I changed their name to something a bit more anonymous, but this time I decided not to.
I can’t imagine why those old records aren’t in the public domain.

Public Domain for older stuff is after 75 years. Thus, anything after 1935’s still under copyright.
For works registered after January 1, 1978, the copyright lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years.

My wife and I play Quiddler almost every weekday at lunch. We frequently use “quod”. I suspect you will learn about this word, Kat.

Rick,
Quod is a word I use in Bananagrams which is a game we play often.
I looked up Quiddler and ended up ordering it as a Christmas present for friends (one for me too!).
