Albatross: Rufus Wainwright
This song is compliments of my good friend Pete. He sent me Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins. The songs are all hers, the ones she wrote, and the album is wonderful. The different singers lend their own interpretation to Judy' songs. Some of the songs sound almost bare, bereft as they are of that amazing soprano, but I loved their them for their newness. This is a favorite.

I just watched the YouTube videos of “Across the Universe” and “Sonnet 20”. Wow. <= drastic understatement
The former is one of my favorites for a long time. I thought the video captured the inherent childish longing for a time and place separate from HERE so well.
And the latter benefits from a good writer. /g/
Some names of "over the top" stuff he's done? I haven't sampled his work before, so I'm open to know what you think that is.

Rick,
Hallelujah and Across the Universe are my favorite Rufus’ songs though I now need to add Albatross to the list.
I am not so great a Rufus fan that I can list the songs which I always thought a bit over the top. That will take a bit of looking and listening to jog the memory.

ooooh ooooh ooooh…. a Rufus song I wasn’t familiar with… and it’s WONDERFUL! I’m a real fan, but he’s so much better when he only goes just to the top, but not over it. Thanks!

im6,
I do really like some Rufus songs, but it took me a while to get beyond his over the top stuff-it was off-putting for a long while for me.
