Thanks for sharing this song. I heard Bette Midler’s version on the radio over here in the UK back in june 08 and immediately sort out a download. I didn’t realise it was originally by Prine! I think I need to check out more of his work

and I’m sure the Mailman from Maywood won’t disappoint you.
We’re going up to Northern Wisconsin a month from today to see him for the umpteenth time and bringing the daughter and son-in-law along too for their first Prine concert.
My wife fell in love with his music back in the early, early 70’s playing at the Earl of Old Town in Chicago during the great coffee house days. She introduced me to Johnny’s music when we first met and I’ve loved the both of them for almost 40 years now.

I bought it! I can’t think I’d ever go wrong with anything from John Prine.
