As a child I loved this song. There is something funny about the moon hitting your eye like a big Pizza Pie. I had no clue what Amore was. Dino’s drinking was was an act as part of the rat pack. He was a sober family man who would rather spend his evenings in his PJs and play with his kids rather than drink and chase woman with his buddies.

      Bob,
I always gave great emphasis on pizza pie and amore when I was singing along.

My parents loved Dino so we always watched.

at my favorite italian deli songs like this play over the sound system while you eat or shop…its almost as important as the wonderful smells that fill the jointor the big frank sinatra autograph…i’m glad these places still exist

      greg,
The cape is almost bereft of stores like that though we now have a variety of ethnic restaurants. When I was young, we had none.

I love the North End of Boston for the very reason you mentioned.

Unfortunately, the ethnic deli is a dying institution. Enjoy the ones that remain. Almost all of the Jewish ones in cities like Boston, New York and Baltimore are already out of business. The first generation of immigrant children, such as Dean Martin, kept these wonderful places going. Their children and grandchildren live different life styles and have little affinity for the high fat delicacies such as pastrami and salami that their grand and great grand parents brought over from the old country. The taste will live in our memories like the music of Amore and O’Solo Mio.

    Bob,
My dad always went to the Italian deli uptown every Saturday for the week’s cold cuts. Anthony’s was the name of it-gone now. I’m sorry for the loss.
