Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye: Judy Collins
I saw Judy in Hyannis and loved the way she sang Leonard Cohen songs. This is about the best of them all.
The year was 1967. The album was Wildflowers.

We saw Leonard late last year at the Nokia theater in LA; I also saw him when he was an, ahem, old man of 60 on his “I’m Your Man Tour” and was amazed how vibrant he was then…fast forward 16 years and there is very little difference. He has gotten better with time; and I play him on my ipod mixed in with everything from classical, folk to punk. (How else can one bear LA traffic?)
When my room mate came home after drinking way too much when I was in my early twenties living in Chicago, I put “The Songs of Leonard Cohen” on her stereo and set it to repeat; she was too paralyzed to get up and turn it off, and never forgave me. It makes me smile today…she said she had never heard anything so depressing in her life. (Worked better than a 12 step program)
Really enjoy the mix of music you put up, and an overdue thank you for introducing me to the Patty Griffin song “Making Pies.”

Lynn,
I had to laugh at you and the Songs of Leonard Cohen. That was the album I played over and over too. My roommates were driven crazy. I doubt either of them is a Leonard fan even now.
I watched the special on PBS about him starting in his earliest days. He was the perfect poster boy for beat poets. I did buy his latest album.
You are most welcome!
