I love the wonderful “boxed in” sound of the early Motown songs, it takes me back to the early 1960’s…
This was Martha and the Vandellas’ second hit to be written by Holland-Dozier-Holland. It was also one of the first songs to create the style of music that would be known as the “Motown Sound.”Martha was working as a secretary at the Motown offices.
This song received a Grammy nomination in 1964 for Best Rhythm & Blues Recording; it lost to Ray Charles’ hit “Busted.”

sblake,
I remember loving all the Motown groups and spending my money for 45’s. I still love listening and never fail to sing along. They were such a part of my growing up and learning to love all sorts of music.
