“A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike.”
“Oh, what a beautiful mornin’, Oh, what a beautiful day.” The sun is shining. The birds are many and loud, and all sorts have dropped by to dine: the cardinals, the Baltimore orioles, my old standbys, the chickadees, and some catbirds liking the grape jelly. I sat outside through both papers and my coffee then took an outside shower. What a delightful way to start the day.
I leave tomorrow for Boston then on Monday I’m off to Colorado. I have a few errands today in preparation for the trip then I’m going to be right back on that deck. The new book is a good one, and I want to relax and read with only the sounds of the birds and the trickling from my fountain as background music. Gracie and the cats have a new sitter who’s moving in tomorrow afternoon.
A certain excitement accompanies any of my trips, no matter where I go. Walking down the jet way is always filled with expectation for me. I love the familiar sounds and smells as I approach the airplane door. While I wait in line to board, I look through the little jet way window at the runway. It never gets old for me. I know plane travel is increasingly uncomfortable and expensive, but it’s the destination which makes it all worthwhile.
I’m watching Ghana play Australia in the World Cup. Right now the whole of Ghana must be at a standstill with people glued to TV sets or radios. The score is tied at one-one.
I am loving the day and feel as if I should dance a jig and shout to all of you at the top of my voice, “Have a wonderful Saturday!”

48F this morning and now (5pm) it has risen to 57F. I´m sorry but I just can´t sing along with You 🙂 🙂 But it was so cold this morning that no fly even tried to annoy me 🙂 🙂
I like to go to trainstations or airports just to sit there and see all people and the trains/plains leave. i love studying those waiting for their turn to leave. Some are on job trips and are easy to spot. They have a sort of aura of tiredness and boredom over them :-)The first time travellers that continuingly looks at the big board so they really knows that they are on the right place 🙂 Or families that looks as if they already had come home because their children are high on travelling joy and has been so for days 🙂 🙂
Have a great day and a great trip to Colorado!
Will You take Your computor with You?
Christer.

Christer,
I wouldn’t sing either if it were that cold. Nope, I’d be inside hunkered down.
I too love people watching at the airport. I try to figure out where the people might be going and why. You’re right about the job trips. Flying has become humdrum for them.
I doubt I’ll bring my computer. It will be a brief hiatus for Coffee.

It’s been a chilly June day here in northern England. It’s as if a great pall has descended on the country, the shadow of yesterday’s pathetically dismal performance by the England team. Not to worry though, I’ve spent the first part of the day visiting local artists in their studios; and tonight—with the sun now pushing its way through the clouds—I’m taking some Lithuanian guests to a barbeque at a good friend’s house. Well done Team USA, by the way!

Jim,
I know what chilly June days are like, and I know the pain of losing. Our Celtics lost the championship the other night. It was painful.
I’m happy you’ve brightened your own day. Nothing better than getting together with friends.
Thanks!!

We had a bit of “excitement” in the middle of our last flight. While changing planes in Reykjavik we were detained and searched as “persons of interest”.
It was kinda neat, actually, and none of us (about 10 folks) could figure out why we were picked out from the passenger manifest. None of us “looked like terrorists”. Fortunately, no rectal probes.

John,
Good thing you didn’t pack the contraband. Maybe it was your shifty eyes!
I’m happy you were spared the probe!!!

It’s a Caturday over on my blog and we have fun each weekend with the cat blogosphere people. It’s the busiest track day for both my wife’s blog Zoolatry and my Cat in the Bag. It’s so hot outside that we do inside stuff like blog longer than usual. Glad your weather is better. Safe trip Kat and enjoy that baseball game! Is Ralph baby sitting the pets while you are gone? Someone has to watch over Coffee.

Z&Me,
I always love your cat pictures. Some make me laugh right out loud. Zoey is always a hoot.
Thanks!
Ralph has stopped blogging so I didn’t ask. I do have a pet sitter, a former student whose father I worked with at the high school as well. She is really excited to stay here.
I think I may have a Coffee hiatus.
