The Gang that Sang Heart of My Heart: The Four Aces

I have no idea why, but I know all the words to this one. This is from Their Very Best.

I know all the words to this also, Kat. I think the song was a standard for all those 160s light-entertainment TV shows, which were popular on both sides of the Atlantic. Over here it might be the Billy Cotton Band Show—with guests: Max Bygraves; and a group from Liverpool, called The Beatles. We teens would sit impatiently through Max singalonging to Heart of My Heart—little knowing that the tune was storing itself until its host matured sufficently to appreciate its qualities.

      Jim,
I think it might have been Mitch Miller who etched this one into my brain. He too led a sing-a-long, but I can’t for the life of me think I sang along to this.

It has been a long time since I last heard it but it could have been Amsterdam.

I meant: 1960s, of course (I’m not that old!)

My father is suffering from Alzheimer’s. One of the oddities of the disease is that musical memories are among the last things to go. When my mom visits him in the nursing home, they sing old songs together, including “Heart Of My heart.” Thanx for posting this.

      You are welcome, Buzz.

I thank you for telling me about your mother and father singing together. It is beautiful and touching.
