I like this track. The Highwaymen were one of my favorite groups, perhaps because they weren’t quite as slick as some of the other folk groups and my pals and I thought we could do just about as well. I’m pretty sure this track was recorded after Gil Robbins joined the group and moved their “professionalism” up a notch or two.

You’re probably aware that Dave Fisher died last month. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/13/arts/music/13fisher.html

      Michal,
I had read of his death and kept it in the back of your head so I’d remember to post. Of course, I did forget to mention it. Thanks!

I always think they were underrated. They never did the recognition they deserved.

    Hello Katry,
“Well, well, well” has always been one of my favorites. But I still prefer the cover by Bob Gibson and Bob Camp, at Newport in 1960 (can be found on “Troubadours of the folk era, Rhino). Maybe the public recording ads a special feeling… It’s a song I keep listening over and over.

      iero,
I have too many albums to count and three Bob Gibson albums. You would mention an album I don’t have!

I’ll add it to my wish list.

This one didn’t do much for me . . . perhaps because I recognized it as a white-faced version of Josh White’s “Jesus Gonna Make Up My Dyin’ Bed.”

      Marchbanks,
I tried to find some background about this song but I found nothing.

I don’t know the Josh White but I’ll give it a listen.
