“Sunday is the core of our civilization, dedicated to thought and reverence.”
I hate to repeat myself, but today too is lovely. As I crossed the bridge on the way to breakfast, I saw the crests of small waves twinkling in the sun like polished jewels, so many quahoggers I can’t believe they weren’t stepping on each other’s feet and a family having breakfast on a blanket by the water. Even the back roads were busy, and on the bike path were lots of bike riders, old and young, people jogging and dog walkers. It’s like a summer’s day.
I intent to be lazy the whole of today. Yesterday I got a couple of books at the library, and I’m champing at the bit to start one. I do have two chores but neither chore is too strenuous. I have to fill the birds feeders and add water to the fountain, which Gracie drinks dry most days.
The summer church opened this morning. As I passed by, mass was over and people were leaving. I noticed some church goers were dressed in shorts and t-shirts, and I didn’t see a single hat, mantilla or tissue bobby pinned to any woman’s head. I just sort of smiled and remembered my church clothes.
My friends are coming to dinner. It is the opening of the deck season here at my house and the first of many evenings eating, talking and laughing together on a gentle summer’s night.

It´s been an unusually loud Sunday over here today. One neighbour has a hughe van with a hughe motor and he must have been fixing the engine because I think I heard that sound most of the day. At first I thought it was thunder comming in over the village.
Many also mowed their lawns. As soon as I opened the kitchen dor they started the machines, every time I did it 🙂 But it´s nice to actually hear that there are people living here, usually it´s deadly quiet.
It´s been a lazy day here, mostly I´ve done nothing and sometimes I´ve been asleep infront of the tv. Well I´ve eaten a couple of apples too, but that´s it 🙂
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer,
You just described the noise of my Saturday. Around here that is always the busiest outside in the yard day of the week.
I always like the noise of the neighborhood.
My day too was pretty lazy.

We were entertained here most of the morning by the feral family of five kittens as the Mom is now bringing them out. They are soooo playful and two of them chased each other around my outdoor brick grill, one fell asleep topside on the side where I keep my utensils when I’m cooking on it. We’re guessing six weeks old now. This is the third time we’ve seen them and it’s becoming more frequent. I’m guessing one more week and they will join the porch kitty on the front porch for breakfast.

Z&Me,
How so very neat that she has so much trust in you to bring her babies to visit. Nothing is more fun than watching kittens run and play.
You’ll soon need a buffet table on that porch.
