I was working on an electronics assembly line where 3 dozen people had their radios on with no earphones (except mine when I couldn’t stand it any longer). This and Uncle Albert, and You’re So Vain and a few others were in CONSTANT rotation during the day on different Austin radio stations!
But enough time has passed that it is fun to hear again.
Rick,
I have songs which stay in my head forever; sometimes it is only a line or two from a song. It drives me crazy. In time, I end up with fond memories. I have no idea why!
This song appeared on the VH1 program James Taylor-Storytellers 2 in 1997. Taylor explained that he was very young when he wrote this song and had no idea that even songs like “Fire And Rain” would have a life on the marketplace, therefore songwriting was just a hobby for him at that point. What inspired him to write “Mud Slide Slim” was a picture that was sent to him of a charred tree that had been washed down a hill in a mudslide. And someone had nailed a sign to this tree saying “I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain.” While it was a funny moment for James, it also inspired him to write a song.
Sadly today when I think of James Taylor, I think 401K Tour. The forthcoming show with Ms King has tickets at $138 and as high as $267. Then again Simon and Carbunkle want $250 to sit on the main floor. Clappedout and Daltrey will be putting tickets for DTE on sale this week for a modest $175 plus service charges.
Oh well, I guess its no different to live greatest hits, covers (I really needed to record….) and the endless stream of Christmas albums
Kat
I ended up buying the D90 through Amazon and it worked out fine. You would be extremely pleased with the camera.
I have been working all (rainy) weekend on the China Agenda beginning May 21 and the Nikon is primed and ready to go.

sblake,
I always thought that line was a metaphor. It never occurred to me that JT had seen it somewhere.
My hobby used to be needlepoint!!

My Dear Hedley,
I am just as content to put on an album and listen. My money is better spent on other things.
BTW: thanks for the recommendation on the Nikon D90. I’m pricing them now to buy.

Thanks, My Dear Hedley
The place where I found a good price is out of them so I will move on over to Amazon.
