I have found John Denver again after losing him for a long while. This is a beautiful song.

Sorry you lost him there, he wrote great music, and had a beautiful voice.
Thanks for this one, I hadn’t quite lost him, but he’s not been on my playlist for some time now either …

    Brian,
I thought he’d become too pop for me, but I was wrong. Later, when I heard his music again, I realized how lovely it was.

Your blog disappeared from my view for awhile & I felt bereft. Truly. It’s snowing windy & foggy all together here & yet there’s “Sunshine On My Shoulders: John Denver”. Katry thank you.

    Older Sister,
    You are very welcome.

I was horrified when Coffee disappeared as I was working on it. My first thought was that’s it; I’m done. It took only a day to get right back at it.

Denver wrote this on a Spring day in Minnesota when the rain was gently falling.Words by John Denver, music by John Denver, Dick Kniss and Mike Taylor. Mike Taylor collaborated with Denver on “Rocky Mountain High” and on “The Eagle and The Hawk.”

This was originally released as the B-side of “I’d Rather Be a Cowboy.” As the Vietnam War came to an end, this track took on a new significance and began to receive airplay on Adult Contemporary radio stations. It was also featured in the 1973 CBS-TV movie Sunshine and its 1974 NBC-TV spin-off series.

    sblake,
I love that the rain was gently falling. I figure if it had been a gale, the song would be quite different.

    I don’t ever remember B-sides!
