“Spring comes: the flowers learn their colored shapes.”
The bird feeders need sunflower seeds, and I have a few solar lights to place around the yard, tulips from my sister. They’ll be lovely all summer shining through the underbrush among the trees. I always think my yard a fairyland in the summer.
It’s a sunny day though a bit chilly still. Buds have appeared on the trees. The forsythia is dropping its yellow. Chives are high in the herb garden. The garden centers have bushes and flowers outside and people roaming around pulling carts. I think I can finally say spring has come to Cape Cod.
Spring always made me feel light, airy. I got to shed the hat, the mittens and the heavy winter coat. Mornings were a joy, filled with warmth, fresh smells and the sounds of the birds. We took our time getting to school and chatted as we walked on the long straight sidewalk under a bower of trees. The sunlight dappled through overhanging branches, and we went from sun to shade and back again. The houses were close to that sidewalk, but I never remember seeing people who lived in any of them. There were just kids walking to school.

It is Spring and that means just one thing – Edge trimmer ! Time to get out the blade and start redefining those flowerbeds after another (long) Michigan winter.
My arms are still ripped to shreds from having cleared out ground cover last weekend.
Better make sure the ipod is ready to go before Saturday, and I won’t be downloading John Denver for this.

My Dear Hedley,
My yard is all set for new flowers but not until it gets warmer. I have a list of perennials I want to add. The last will be the mulch.
My landscaper did all of the backyard, tons of limbs and branches. He also took down two dead pine trees. I just watched. Sorry, you ache.
John Denver is for certain moods, not working. For that I need music which keeps me moving.

It was even colder last night here, only 23F. But the day has been wonderful otherwise. I was all out of firelogs and since it´s going to be real cold this weekend (at least so they say, it´s not often they are right when predicting the weather here 🙂 🙂 ), I drove to Falköping to get some more. I passed a gardencentre on my way home and it´s mostly still pansies and daisies they sell here. But I bought two Decorative geraniums (pelargoniums) to have inside instead 🙂
I also changed my tires on the car today. That´s a bit of a challange when recently having a hip surgery 🙂 🙂
I lived to close to school to have anything to sat about walking there any time of year. As soon as I walked out the door at home I almost were at school 🙂 🙂
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer,
I saw all the frost on yesterday’s Cottage, and I couldn’t believe how cold it looked. We have been really cold at night but no frost for a while.
Buying flowers is the perfect way to keep winter away.
We had a walk which wasn’t every long, maybe 15 minutes.

You were fortunate to live close to where you could walk to school. Most of my years growing up I had to ride the bus. I hated it. Only once were we close enough to ride our bikes and that was wonderful to do in Spring and Fall. Winter those long walks usually ment snow ball fights and being sent to the principals office for fighting.

Z&Me,
I don’t ever remember seeing any school buses when I was a kid. All of the elementary schools were in different parts of town so kids could walk. Some of my friends had really long walks to St. Pat’s but walk they did. I imagine the high school might have had buses back then but they started earlier so we’d have missed them.
I loved riding my bike to school.
