“The rain began again. It fell heavily, easily, with no meaning or intention but the fulfillment of its own nature, which was to fall and fall.”

Today is cold, dark and rainy. The wind is spectacular. My house was cold when I woke up. It was only 61˚. The heat for a little while, a sweatshirt and hot coffee solved the cold problem. Rain is predicted for the rest of today and tomorrow.

When I was a kid, a rainy Saturday was the worst. The four of us were stuck inside the house in close quarters. The living room couch was my spot for the morning where I sat with my cereal bowl in hand. I had a good view of the TV. I’d watch until my shows were over then I’d read a while or play in the cellar or pull out a game hoping for an opponent. I’d pray the rain would stop. Nothing was worse than a wasted Saturday in the house.

In Ghana, the rainy season meant rain just about every day. Sometimes the rain was unbelievably fierce and heavy while other times it was gentle. I never minded going out in the gentle rain. I was in Southern Ghana, perpetually green Southern Ghana, during the first two weeks of training. I enjoyed the daily rain. Everything washed clean and the aroma of the greenery was thick, especially in the mornings. The second part of training was in the Upper Region, in Bawku and Bolga. The trees were full of leaves. The fields had tall millet and corn growing. The market was filled with stalls offering vegetables, especially tomatoes and onions. Later, when I lived in Bolga, I found out brown was the color of the dry season. Brown fields, leafless trees and dusty roads were the hallmarks of dry season in the Upper Region.

Yesterday I didn’t organize my albums; instead, I cleaned the cat room. I chose a worse task which sort of matched my mood. I vacuumed, wet mopped the floor, cleaned food dishes and organized the litter and food. The room looks good. A while back, I bought Jack and Gwen their own little houses. I put them on the bed. Twice now, I’ve gone into the room, and Jack has come out of his house. He must feel cozy as I suspect he sleeps in a ball so he’ll fit.

The other day I found two desiccated ears of corn in the back of the fridge. I threw them into the backyard figuring a spawn would find them. The other day I saw a piece of corn husk in the backyard. The spawns better be appreciative.

    Hi Kat,

Surprisingly this morning is clear with a high temperature predicted around 80°. No rain is on the radar right now either. Today May be a good day to spend by the pool. The forecast for tomorrow, Monday and most of next week is more clouds and more rain.

Ok, what is a “spawn”? I’ve never heard of it. I assume it’s an animal.

I’m not a fan of three day weekends. For some reason my wife has decided that I have to be the family activity director who has to plan every weekend’s activities. Unfortunately, I’m out of ideas. Of course, going shopping to a mall, or eating out or anything inside is verboten even with masks. Somehow she thinks staying at home is a major problem.

Remember that old adage, “The best laid plans…” life has a way of throwing us continual curve balls. I get sidetracked often both at home and at work. As a matter of fact, there’s something I have to do right now before I forget. Have a great Saturday.

      Hi Bob,
It has been ugly here all day, but they were able to play the Sox game as the Boston rain was earlier. It is 47˚ but feels colder because of the rain and dampness. It will be the same tomorrow.

Spawn is a derogatory word for offspring.

I’m thinking you might want to buy a guidebook. It should not only be the big stuff to see but also stuff you might not know about. You could also hunt on line. I’m thinking there has to be a lot of stuff to see.

It’s true. I think I’ll do one thing or two, and instead, I finish a totally different thing.

You have a great rest of the weekend!

Amazing, today my wife, daughter and I actually had lunch in a Chinese restaurant in Grapevine. We were the only customers in the place and the waiter wore a mask. We had driven past it several times in the past. Today we went inside, sat at a table and eat delicious food. Yahoo!

Wow! That was a huge step for your wife.

It sounds great being the only diners. I’m glad you all enjoyed the food. That made the trip all the better.

Quite the opposite weather here, just enough warm, sunshine and a weak cool wind blowing. It couldn’t be much better to be honest.

I’ve done some of my chores today so tomorrow will be a nice day and much like today weathervice, slightly warmer though. I better enjoy it while it lasts 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
It was a totally ugly day. I went nowhere. It was nice being home anyway.

I did a bit of vacuuming today and cleaned a few spots yesterday. I’m all chored out and a bit tired.

      Enjoy your Sunday.

Thank you for following my Blog. Here in eastern PA it’s darn cool for this time of the year. Cool, a bit windy, and rain. Not good for the holiday week-end. Most people are not happy about it. The Jersey Shore is going to loose money! Stay well & safe.

      Les,
Your following Coffee had me want to follow you. I found your blog really interesting. I went back to look at a few more entries.

Here the entire peninsula is up in arms. Everything was booked this weekend, and even most hotels and motels were booked. It is day two of rain and cold. Not so great for a major tourist area hoping to rebound.
