“We all need empty hours in our lives or we will have no time to create or dream.”
My mornings are leisurely. Henry is up first. I let him out then get his breakfast. He stands on his tippy toes and sort of dances while he waits. I make my coffee then go get the papers. One cup for each paper. Henry falls asleep while Jack just hangs around. Gwen is upstairs. I’ll go later and pat her and feed the kitties.
When I was a kid, we always just had a dog. My father didn’t like cats. He had no reason. When I was in high school, I was gifted with a kitten. My father was away all week working in Maine so my mother told him about the kitten. He said it better be gone when he gets home. It wasn’t. The kitten and my father were introduced to each other. The kitten purred and licked my father. That was it. The kitten stayed. After that, my family always had cats.
It got cold last night, and it is still chilly, only 49˚, but that’s no matter as the day is lovely with a bright sun. The breeze has gone. All the leaves are motionless on their branches.
I have started to eat cereal again but not my childhood favorite, Rice Krispies. I’m into Raisin Bran but Raisin Brand Crunch, the original, and Raisin Brand Crunch, vanilla and almonds. I always thought only old people ate Raisin Bran for their digestive health. I just like it.
When I was a kid, the Sears catalog still held sway. The toy section of it became well worn. Some toys had circles. Some had stars. Pages were dog-eared. I remember writing down the names of the toys I wanted so I could give Santa an accurate account of my Christmas wishes. My brother and sisters did the same. All of us wrote letters to Santa.
I have a few things going this week. My first ukulele lesson is on Wednesday. I have a dentist appointment Wednesday afternoon. The cat goes to the vets on Friday. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. I think I’m going to need naps after such a full week.

Weetabix. I used to be able to stroll in to the local Trader Joes and pick up a box of Weetabix for $3 give or take. It wasnt exactly the same as the UK version but close enough. I guess I was the only one buying it as they have stopped carrying it. Extremely annoying.
I have a tendency to overstock on other cereals at Costco

My Dear Hedley,
I don’t remember ever eating Weetabix though I do know the name. It is actually a neat name.
If you really get the sudden urge for Weetabix, Amazon has it. You know Amazon has everything.

Hi Kat,
When I awoke this morning our cable TV and internet was off again. It’s back on this afternoon and our neighborhood was filled with AT&T trucks. I assume giving everyone who had no service the past two weeks a discount is hurting their bottom line. 🙁
No cats in our house because my spouse is deathly allergic to their dander. While looking for houses we stepped into a house and my wife froze as her allergies instantly kicked in because cats had once lived there. We instantly turned and left without even looking past the front room. I know she could go to an allergist, but being happy is better than being right. 🙂 First rule of marriage: “Happy wife means happy life”.
Today the sky was clear with highs in the mid 70s. Our first freeze was last Thursday which is about three weeks early for our average first freezes.

Hi Bob,
I doubt AT&T will suffer at all.
Who is your provider? Both my phone and cable are from Comcast. If my electricity is down, that doesn’t necessarily mean the services are down. They could be rolling merrily along which means no change in my bill.
I had allergies to cats, dogs, mold, ragweed and just about every flower. Some cleaning solutions killed my eyes which would itch and burn. I no longer suffer from any allergies. That has made a huge difference in the way I live my life.
We haven’t had a freeze yet though other parts of the state have. It has been in the fifties most days though the morning are cooler.
