“Just tell yourself, Duckie, you’re real quite lucky.”
If the escape game were real, my friends and I would still be locked in the room with no food, only drink. We managed a few clues but failed in the end.
This morning I went into the guest room and talked to Gwen. I patted her. She got up and came over for more pats. She was a happy cat. What she doesn’t know is I am doing this so she’ll get used to me being there at odd hours. She has another vet appointment Friday so I’ll saunter in, pat her then grab her and put her in the carrier, which I left in the bedroom. So far it is Gwen 1, human 0.
When I was a kid, each outfit I wore had a generic name. After school, I’d get home and change out of my school clothes into my play clothes. My school clothes were a uniform with a white blouse, blue tie and a blue skirt. My play clothes were always a blouse or shirt and a pair of pants, usually jeans, girls’s jeans with the zipper in the side pocket. I had church clothes, usually a skirt and a blouse and a lacy mantilla for a hat. On Thanksgiving we wore every day clothes, but on Christmas we got dressed up. I think I even broke down and wore a dress.
I have already started watching Christmas movies on Hallmark, Lifetime, Up and Ion. In common, all the movies having happy endings. I need a few happy endings. We all do.
I just feel so contented. The house is warm. The sun is shining through the trees with a glint which comes only on sunny fall days. The cat is sleeping beside me on the couch. I have a newly brewed cup of coffee to drink. I’m wearing my new wool slippers. I have food from last night so I can enjoy chips and onion dip and a naan pizza if I’m hungry enough. I love today.

Hi Kat,
It was cold in the house this morning and the bird bath in the yard was frozen solid. It has warmed up quite a bit since then and the dogs and I have been out several times to enjoy the sunshine which was copious until that big black cloud rolled over it. Oh well.
New wool slippers and naan pizza AND chips and dip? I am envious. I have hand knit wool socks and leftover Halloween candy.
I hope on Friday that it will be Gwen 1 Human 1 and you both can call it even and carry on amicably.
Enjoy the day.

Hi Caryn,
That is amazing to me that it got so cold so as to freeze the bird bath water. That water is fairly deep. I have a heater for my bird bath somewhere in the cellar.
I love hand knit stockings. I have a couple of pairs, and they keep my feet wonderfully warm.
It was onion dip and chips for lunch. It was delicious!!
My plans are good for Operation Gwen on Friday. I do hope she won’t escape under the bed.
Have a great evening!

I can see why you’re contented. I’d be too.
Operation Gwen should work if you’re sneaky and well-prepared. Too bad you can’t have one of the vet techs in the room. Maybe a friend just outside, in case you need a second pair of hands all of a sudden? Maybe a thick towel? Oven mitts?

Rowen,
I will go slowly so as not to spook Gwen. She does have hiding under the bed well in hand or well in claw. That’s where she hid for the first two months.
There is just me. I’d hate anyone else to get scratched or bitten but I am confident I can get her.

Hi Kat,
Sadly, Christmas movies are being shown and it’s not even Thanksgiving. Let’s start the holiday season right after Labor Day and begin the Christmas sales right after Halloween. 🙂 It’s much too early for Amazon and Walmart to be clogged with holiday shoppers. Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza and whatever Muslims celebrate.
When I walked into my condo this afternoon after getting a haircut, surprise of surprises the cable TV and WiFi is back on. Yay! 🙂 It’s only been 14 days from the evening of the tornado until the TV and internet was restored. Unfortunately, about 100 feet south of my condo roofs were ripped off and homes are unlivable. Thankfully to all deities or just dumb luck no one was killed or even seriously hurt.
Yet another beautiful sunny day with a high in the mid sixties. Sadly the sun will set today at about 6:30 because we’re back on standard time. Did you enjoy your extra hour of sleep that you lost in April? I did. 🙂

Hi Bob,
The Hallmark movies all celebrate Christmas and family. There are no sales involved. With so many movies, they do start early in showing them.
I do chuckle at your Christmas time rants about sales given you don’t celebrate Christmas. I can’t think you do a lot of department store shopping so you get to avoid Christmas decorations and such. I have learned to celebrate in my own way. I just ignore the early hoop-la and go about my own business which includes Hallmark movies.
Nothing better than having the TV and internet to keep us occupied. Being without is painful. I’m glad you have yours back. Unbelievable the damage which happened. No loss of life is amazing!
I did enjoy my extra hour’s sleep.
