“Let us be lazy in everything, except in loving and drinking, except in being lazy.”
This spate of wonderful weather continues. Today, though, is breezy enough to ring the chimes hanging on a backyard branch. I love the sweetness of their sounds.
Yesterday was dump day. My car was filled with cardboard boxes, newspapers and catalogues, cans, litter and two bags of trash.
My father loved going to the dump. He always offered a family wide invitation to accompany him. Sometimes I went, and he was delighted. The dump back then was a seagull heaven of sorts with huge heaps of trash. The gulls circled the tops of the heaps and squawked and cawed. They were looking for gull goodies.
When I’m traveling north, I keep an eye on the heavens looking for hawks riding the thermals. They fly in slow circles their wings spread. They are beautiful.
When I was a kid, I read the newspaper only to see the comics. On week days, when the comics were in black and white, the black ink transferred to my finger tips. Sometimes I’d wipe them on my pants and leave finger prints. Ink stains didn’t go away.
I slid off my bed. It was because the mattress topper was no longer evenly over the mattress. Some of it extended beyond the edge of the mattress. I tried to stop myself, but I didn’t. I hit the floor. No injuries have been reported. Henry just stayed on the bed and stared.
I could never be a solo climber. Some times I fall up the stairs. Yesterday my slipper fell off so I stumbled. It wasn’t at all graceful.
A gnat has been dive bombing me. I swat, but it moves too quickly to be squashed. It did land on my computer screen, but I missed it.
I’m glad Nutella wasn’t around when I was a kid. My fluffernutter would have become a Nutellanutter. I also probably would have sneaked and eaten it with a spoon right out of the jar.
I’m staying home today, no errands necessary. I do need to put my clean laundry away. It has finally made it to my room. That’s my only chore. I’m going to stay in my cozies all day and read.

Hi Kat,
Tomorrow I’m headed out to Phoenix for the week which is a couple of degrees cooler than it was here today. Who would think it would be cooler in a desert than here. It must just be some crazy weather that’s not caused by global warming according to the prophet of 5th Avenue, Trump. 🙁
Why don’t you have garbage pickup? I have never had to take my trash to the land fill. When I was a kid I only read the comics in the Sunday paper because I didn’t like black and white comics. In the old days the ink from newsprint came off onto your fingers even from the news stories. 🙂 Now I read the news online and save a few trees just in case the scientists are right and Trump is wrong. 🙂
I don’t like Nutella because I want my chocolate straight up and not mixed with hazelnut cream. When I think of Nutella I think of products that were substituted for something which was rationed during WWII like Postum instead of coffee.
I took my daughter out to see the movie, “Blinded By The Light” this afternoon, it’s a fun movie based on a true story about a Pakistani teenager in Luton England who is inspired by the music of Bruce Springsteen to become a writer. Although set in 1988 it speaks volumes about what’s going on today in the world.

Hi Bob,
We are still having warm days in the 70’s. The nights are cool and perfect for sleeping. I love this fall weather. If I’m lucky, it will continue into much of October.
I won’t pay to have garbage pickup. The town doesn’t have one so I’d have to pay a private company. The one which picks up the trash of the renters next door in the summer doesn’t have recycling. I read the comics every day as many were part of a consecutive story line.
I love Nutella. It is spreadable chocolate, actually it is spreadable cocoa so it is not a substitute for anything. The chocolate substitute would be carob which is even okay for dogs who can’t eat chocolate.
I haven’t heard of that movie. I did look it up and the movie got excellent reviews.

Grey and dull here with occasional rain they say, much like yeasterday but without the sunshine. It will stay above 51F so it’ll be an ok day anyway. I just have to figure out when it is safe from getting wet when taking walks 🙂 🙂
Most raptors have left us now but I can see some Common Buzzards on my way to work but most of those will leave us soon but some will stay. I can quite often see them sitting on poles but they never stay long enough for me to get a chance to photograph them 🙂
I’ve never been a big fan of nutells oddly enough, it is something I actually should love to be honest 🙂 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
Today we have cloudy weather, and it is warm at 68˚. Rain is not predicted though we do need it. I’ll not complain about rain.
The hawks stay around. I don’t see them other than high in the sky as they swirl to the trees. They are beautiful with their wings spread. I have to babe careful to keep my eyes on the road instead of the hawk.
I think the hazelnut in Nutella puts some people off. It is an acquired taste. I usually have a jar in my cupboard.
Enjoy your day!!

Sometimes I’d just eat a spoonful. I like it that much!!
