I remember the number from my childhood: Stoneham 6.
I don’t remember the number when we moved to the cape, but I do remember you didn’t have to dial the whole number. Before needing area codes, Dennis was just 385 + the number. All I had to do was dial 5 then the number. Once we needed area codes, we had to dial all of the number.

I miss exchange names. They were functionally extinct by my time but vestiges in print remained, and it was fun figuring them out.
