“Our pets are our family.”
Today is a beautiful day. All my windows are open. The high today will only be 78˚ and it feels drier than it has been. Every now and then a tiny breeze ruffles the highest leaves on the oak trees. I have one appointment or rather my car does. It needs a new heat shield. Between the refrigerator repairman and the Toyota dealer, I am learning all sorts of new words that I’d rather not have to learn.
I have my flow chart. Tomorrow night is a big movie night, Killer Klowns from Outer Space. The evening will have a circus theme. I have to start prepping tonight. I’ll organize and make one of the appetizers, muhammara, as it tastes best when the ingredients spend some time together. All my circus decorations are in a box, including a few surprises for my guests. It will be a fun night.
I have sworn off watching politics on TV. I still read the papers but mostly just glide across the political news though I have found a few articles funny. The President is threatening France with a tariff on wine. He, a teetotaler, says he prefers America wine to French wine. He likes the way American wine looks. That one gave me a chuckle.
Henry and cat1 have had their moments lately. Henry corners cat1 who hisses and swats Henry a couple of times but without claws. Last night I was crazed. First, cat1 threw up. I saw greenery so he is eating some plant of mine. I’ll investigate that later. Henry does the same thing routine every night. He joins me in bed while I read but leaves when I turn off the light. He comes back later but usually I’m asleep. At 2 this morning, I heard a hiss coming from the bottom of my bed. The cat was sleeping on my bed when Henry jumped on. The cat ran. Henry gave chase. I cursed the both of them. Neither was on my bed when I fell asleep, but Henry was beside me when I woke up. He is the winner in the first battle royal. I am the loser. I’m tired.

Marley and Harry have a love/hate relationship. Fortunately Harry prefers to sleep alone on the porch. Marley sleeps in bed with me. But battle lines are drawn when I’m in the bathroom. Both want to wait outside the shower for me, but when I step out, Harry is usually the one there. I also get crowded at the toilet. Honestly, they do not understand personal space and both know how to open the door. But what would we do without them?

Erin,
Cat1 tries to sleep on my bed. If he or she stays away from Henry’s spot, he won’t care. Last night, though, he jumped right on the cat. Henry doesn’t stay with me in the bathroom, but cat1 does.
I am never without one or both of them!!

“Derry Girls” Season 2 arrives on Netflix tonight – I shall attempt to “ration” myself and not just binge the whole lot.
I was suitably entertained by something from Pink Floyd’s “Meddle” today which was amongst my more preferred albums from “The Flob” – my preference is “Wish you were here” and I really didn’t have much time for “The Wall’
The Prince and I are preparing for the off. Along with Mrs MDH we are on the night flight to London on Thursday and dance very quickly in to a fun schedule for him. The Oval calls us immediately and then on to North London to se KTCC’s favorite football team open their season against Aston Villa.
Our home has been pet free since our Maggie left us. I do not miss the tie of a dog especially as she reached the geriatric years. She had me very well trained to meet her needs

My Dear Hedley,
You will binge. It is the I’ll just watch one more then one ore and on and on.
Pink Floyd is one of those groups which I can take or leave depending on the individual song.
The poor Prince will be exhausted. Given how exciting it will be, I doubt he’ll be able to sleep. Even now on the Ghana flight I seldom sleep. It is 10 and 1/2 hours of being awake.
I was down to one cat then Henry came. The cat passed away at the age of 19. I decided I wouldn’t get another cat, b ut when my aunt died, I couldn’t see her cats going to a shelter so here I am right where I started: one dog and two cats.

Hi Kat,
You will have to explain what is muhammara? Just because I never heard of it doesn’t mean anything. Car’s and refrigerators are interesting in that they work great without much thought on our part until they don’t. 🙂 A friend of mine’s father used to say he could live without any modern conveniences except indoor plumbing. I think he grew up in the country with out houses. I would add AC here in Texas.
Like you, I don’t pay much attention to Trump’s ignorance. He doesn’t realize that a tariff is a tax that consumers will pay on all the goods we import from China. No one could or wants to build an iPhone in this country and if it was it would cost more than twice what we pay now. A 25% increase in price on all Chinese goods will cause less people to buy them and the beginning of a the econmic occurs. Hopefully, he understands that a shooting war with Iran is not even close to a trade war with China. 🙁
A sunny but cooler day with a high of only 96 degrees. 🙂

Hi Bob,
Muhammara is from Morocco. It has a roasted tomato base to with bread crumbs, walnuts, garlic and oil. All of it goes into the food processor. I toast pita bread for scooping. All of my friends love it. I took a cooking class in Morocco ad learned to make it.
He has no idea how tariffs work. I remember him saying we are saving billions of dollars with the tariffs. The soy bean farmers are already hurting. Most of their crops went to China. Now, with the tariff, China buys them from somewhere else.
A cooler day today but it got hot in the afternoon.

In Yiddish there are two words that describe Trump, shmuck and putz. The first one refers the entire male organ while the second refers to the head, the small one especially referring to his. 🙂
Muhammara, sounds delicious. Is it served hot or cold? I love pita bread. What else is on your menu?
A rare cold front is approaching bringing a rare 50/50 chance for rain tomorrow and Sunday with high temperatures in the upper 80s.

They are perfect words!
The movie is Killer Klowns from Outer Space so the theme is circus. I am having guacamole and Irish cheddar as the other two appies with the muhammara. For dinner we’re having hot dogs (in keeping with the theme), fruit salad and a corn bread, tomato salad. Cupcakes are for dessert. I have plastic clown figures for the top of each cupcake. I also have red noses for every one, calliope music as dinner music, red striped tableware and Killer Known pins. Usually I go all out like this for the first movie, but I had to move this to the second movie.

Hi Kat,
I don’t watch politics on tv either which is odd considering the amount of viewing time I give to CSPAN 2 and 3. All of it is either books or history programming which they do very well. I read a digital version of a newspaper. If “Trump” is in the header, I usually swipe on by. Been doing that a lot since November 2016.
Sounds like cat1 is testing boundaries. They’ll work it out. Rocky and Piki Dog sometimes have moments but not so much anymore.
The weather up here was beautiful, too. The lawn guys came this afternoon and Peapod came very early this morning. I am content.
Enjoy the evening.

Hi Caryn,
I can’t take any more Trump stories. I find the man so horrific that I don’t want to know what he has done.
Cat1 just keeps hissing at Henry. I know cat1 has never seen a dog before so this is a big adjustment. Not only does he have a new mistress and a new house, but now he has a dog to content with.
The house was hot when I got home from my errands so I turned on the air for a while, but now the door is open to the evening air.
Have a great night.

If only cat1 would just go with the flow, I’d bet Henry would be a pretty good friend. But there is no reasoning with cats.

Rowen,
Cat1 had a tough time of it. His mistress was in the hospital for three weeks in January. The two cats (cat2 still hides) were fed once a day but had no interactions with the feeder. Their mistress came home but was home only a month or so before she had a heart attack and went into a coma. A month and a half later she passed away. The cats only had that one feeding a day and no interactions again. No one wanted the cats so they were going to a shelter. My aunt was their mistress, an aunt 5 months younger than I. She called them her babies. I couldn’t let them go to a shelter. They hadn’t ever seen a dog before and Henry chased cat1 as soon as he say him. I’d give cat1 a bit of leeway here.

I’ve known cats like that. A one-person animal suddenly faced with a major life change.

I hope cat2 adjusts as cat1 sits beside me and loves being patted. He even purrs for me. I feel bad for the other cat.

I read the plot of Killer Klown from Outer Space and I laughed the entire time. I’m pretty sure that film will be a success tonight 🙂 🙂
I just read that the nitwit who is the leader of Your country had sent a hostage negotiator to Sweden during the A$AP trial 🙂 🙂 🙂 Aparently he had demanded that A$Ap should be allowed to stay in a hotel during the trial 🙂 🙂 🙂 As soon as the trial was over A$AP was free to leave the country, doesn’t mean he isn’t guilty of what they charged him for but means he can do no harm to the investigations if he had wanted to. The verdict will come next week I think.
As long as there are no claws involved they’ll be fine, they just need to find out who’s in charge 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.
