“Cats will amusingly tolerate humans only until someone comes up with a tin opener that can be operated with a paw.”
I am barricaded behind closed doors to keep the heat and humidity at bay. I am almost embarrassed to say it, but I’ll admit I slept until the late morning, until eleven. My excuse is I turned off the light but couldn’t get to sleep last night so I read and read and finished the book I was reading. It was one of those how far to the end of the chapter then how far to the end of the next chapter until there were no more chapters. Henry and the cat slept late along with me. We were all comfortable in the cool air of the house.
I never did go to the dump yesterday. It was too hot, and it seems the same today. Late in the afternoon, I did go out to the front yard to check on my little library. Books needed to be culled, and I had some more books to add. The window needed washing. I found some ants eating and transporting something unidentifiable so I took out all the books and cleaned the two shelves. That was my entire accomplishment yesterday, but nonetheless I am proud of my effort.
The other day cat2 was on the bed in the guest room so I cautiously approached it (I’m using it instead of a more definite he and she as the sexes of the cats are still unknown. I did try to check cat1 who is out roaming all the time, but when I tried to check, it went to bite me, a sure indication that cat1’s private parts are just that, private. They will for now be referred to as cat 1 and cat2.) Anyway, when I started to pat cat2, it hissed. We have some work to do, it and I.

Hi Kat,
Today I’m having my shower stall torn out and replaced. Today is demo day and very noisy. My downstairs neighbor is remodeling her bathroom and when they tore out her shower she discovered my shower pan has been leaking into her area. Guess what, I’m now redoing my shower. Not only an expense I didn’t anticipate but I’m using some of last year’s vacation to make sure everything goes fine.
I’m getting lot’s of reading time because my better half and my daughter are staying the week in a hotel. I will be sleeping and showering there also.
Having never been around cats your transfer experience is interesting. We have always had dogs and they have no problem making friends with both the house and the family. 🙂 Because my wife is deathly allergic to cat dander I will never get to experience cats.
Only mid 90s today for a high with sunny skies.

Hi Bob,
I have the fridge and my car being serviced so, like you, they are unexpected expenses. Not only that but my house taxes are due on August 1.
Today was miserable, but I had no choice but to go out. I went to the dump then the bank, the post office, the lab for regular blood work and the farm stand for local tomatoes. Every time I got out of my cold car my glasses fogged over.
Cats are supposed to weather being apart from their owners easier than having their homes changed. These two cats were alone in January for three weeks when their owner was in the hospital. Their last stint was five weeks alone while their owner was in the hospital again then she passed away. The cats I had before these were both 5 when I adopted them. Their reactions were quite similar than the cats now. One cat came down right away while it took the other cat longer, two months longer, so there is still time for cat2.
It was in the high 80’s here.

Today we finally hit the century mark at the DFW airport which is the official weather reporting station. BTW it doesn’t feel much different than 98.
It’s always something in life. If there is no drama then you’re dead.

This has been the hottest July on record. Boston is officially in a heat wave. We are always a bit less hot.
Haha on the 98˚comment

Hi Kat,
The dogs and I took our walk around 8AM. It was a very short walk. None of us really wanted to stay out there as it was very humid and getting hotter. I wanted to turn on the mister hose and stand under it for awhile. The dogs have needed to go out a few times today but I took them around to the side yard under the shady tree that gets the breeze from the south. Rocky was not happy as he’d rather be on the sunny asphalt.
Cat2 appears to be making some progress in spite of hissing at you. On the bed is a step up from under the bed. Being touched by the strange human was a step too far, I guess. By the way, what color are the cats? I don’t remember if you posted photos.
The AC is running as are the fans. We are cool.
Enjoy the day.

!Hi Caryn,
When I went out at 11, it was miserable. I couldn’t wait to get back inside. I did five errands today. The worst thing was my glasses fogged every time I got out of the car. Henry goes out, does whatever and comes right back inside.
Both of the are black and long haired. Cat 2 has white knee socks while cat1 has white ankle socks. Cat2 has half a white face, sort of strange looking. They are huge, especially cat1 who is humongous. I posted a picture of cat1 on Facebook.
You’re right about cat2 being on the bed being a step forward. I just hope my attempt to pat 2 didn’t send her under the bed for good.
Have a great evening!!

Yesterday was mostly cold and rainy and I ooved it 🙂 This morning is a bit chilly but sunny and it will rise to 68 they say. There’s a wind blowing, as it has these last days so I guess the lawn will dry up so I can mow it later today.
Cats can react so differently when they have to move from their home. I once had a cat that immediately Loved my dogs and me. Still ithad come from a very loving home so I was a bit surprised over how easy things went. That cat loved cheese and especially pizza with lots of cheese on it. She wwould attack unless I gave her a big piece of it 🙂 🙂 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
North of us got rain, wind and hail. Trees were blown down. I hoped for rain as my deck flowers were dry, but we didn’t get any so I went and watered them.
It was really hot and humid again today. Boston had the hottest July on record, especially the last few days.
I had read that cats don’t like change. They’d prefer to stay in their own houses. These two cats also came from a loving home where they were spoiled. They didn’t come from a home with a dog so getting happy with Henry is taking time. He often chases the cat and is a bit jealous when I pat the cat. Today I gave them both some cheese and Henry stood over the cat trying to snatch its cheese.
Have great day!
