“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

The morning is a delight. The air is cool and still and the sun is so bright I had to squint when I got the papers. The sky is perfectly blue which belies the forecast of thunder storms this afternoon.

Last night I had to clean the litter from the floor. I swear the cats are tossing it all over and chuckling when they do. I used my brush and dust pan, and it took a while given the grooves between the pine floor boards. A vacuum is in order. This morning I heard scratching, a lot of scratching. When I went to feed the kitties, I saw the tail end of one scurry under the bed. We take tiny steps, the cats and and I.

Last night was so humid I had to put on the air conditioning. Poor Henry was panting, and had I been a dog, I would have been panting too. The house temperature was 77˚. It took a long while to get down to 70˚. Sleeping last night was comfortable.

I can’t easily explain it, but at night, late night, I feel a sense of serenity. The windows are open here in the den. Outside is quiet. Henry is asleep beside me. Usually I’m reading and a really bad science fiction movie is on the background. Sometimes I go to the deck and just sit to take in the evening.

When I was a kid, I remember my neighbors on the hill inviting me inside. It was July 4th, and I had been outside watching for the highest fireworks from the next town over. My neighbors offered me a soft drink, a coke, and we sat at their kitchen table talking. I was maybe around 11 or 12. They listened. I somehow felt older. It was a neat feeling.

I remember leaving my parents and flying to Philadelphia for Peace Corps staging. Even now I am amazed at the younger me. I was twenty-one and leaving home for two years. I didn’t know anyone. I was going to Africa. I was excited, not afraid. That feeling became part of me.

I love adventures.

After the cool morning temperatures rose quickly, well over 86F. The wwind was still cool though but as soon as I was outside in the garden I felt that I was boilng as soon as I was in the sunshine. The dogs have mostly slept through the day. I guess the cats have too but I’ve barely seen them until now in the evening when it is slightly cooler again.

I feel the same in the early morning, especially if we’re out walking and no traffic sounds can be heard.

    Have a great day!

      Christer,
I went out on the lobster cruise. It was a retirement party for a friend. It was so windy the boat bobbed, but it was worth it for the lobster roll.

It is cooler now than it was all day. The predicted rain never happened, but it is cloudy.

      It is a wonderful feeling!

      Have a great day!!

I know about that feeling when your neighbors invited you in to wet your whistle and it’s the first taste of being a person out on your own.
