Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

Today is sunny and beautiful. It is only 50˚ but having sun makes me a bit forgiving. Rain is predicted for later. I have trouble believing that. The sun is just too pretty, and there are only wispy, white clouds.

I don’t know why I expect really warm days as Cape Cod is seldom warm in the spring. Actually, calling this time of year spring is misleading. When north of us is 60˚, we are in mid 50’s. Some time in May it will start to get warm. In mid June we’ll jump to summer.

I shared a banana with Henry this morning. He likes fruit. So far he has eaten banana, first time today, apples, oranges, watermelon, blueberries, pineapple and mango. I don’t know if he has a favorite. I’m partial to oranges, pineapples and bananas.

Having a banana this morning reminded me of Ghana. Every day I had fruit for lunch, a fruit bowl of oranges, pineapple, mangoes, pawpaw and bananas. When I traveled, I always bought oranges or bananas because of their peel. They didn’t need to be washed. Mangoes were messy, juice down my arm messy. Pawpaws were big.

When I was a kid, we had grapes, oranges, apples and watermelon around all summer. We also had Bing cherries. I love spitting their pits. We had contests to see who could spit the pits the furthest. I never won.

Okay, the sun is gone and the sky is cloudy. I think I saw a few drops of rain on the deck. Sadly, the weatherman is correct.

Today is dump day, and tonight is game night. I’m in charge of tonight’s appetizers. I’ll go to the market and hope to find ready to eat or easy to make appetizers. In case I don’t, I have a couple in mind and a list of the ingredients I’ll need, but I am not really up for cooking. I did plenty on Friday.

Time to finish up and load the car with trash bags. Please, rain, hold off until I’m done.

    Hi Kat,
Rocky and Piki Dog love watermelon. Actually, Rocky loves watermelon and Piki Dog eats watermelon because Rocky eats watermelon and Rocky can’t be special. They both love raw string beans. It’s people food from the refrigerator. They run off with their string beans like little kids with candy.

There was some sun just after sunrise. No sun now and it looks damp outside. From the weather reports, I think we are all going to be cold and wet next week.

    Enjoy the day.

      Hi Caryn,
Henry also loves watermelon. I haven’t ever tried string beans, but I suspect he’d like them too. Henry is not so much a discriminatory eater.

I chuckled at string bean candy!

I never did get to the dump. It rained earlier than I expected. Now I can’t go until Wednesday as it is closed the next two days.

I am so tired of rain!

We’ve had a rather sunny and warm day here but the wind has been so strong that it was nicer to stay indoors. We did get some rain but so little that I doubt that it did any good. They got ten times more not too far from here and I’m not sure if I should consider myself lucky or unlucky since we actually needed more 🙂 🙂

My dogs love all kinds of fruit, especially apples which is bad since Albin can’t eat them without getting sick. Nova isn’t especially happy about persimmons but eat it so Albin and Sune can’t get her piece 🙂 I’ve read that grapes and raisins are toxic for dogs but I know my old Orvar ate plenty and he lived to be twelve years old 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Hi Christer,
Today was cold and rainy all day. Last week it rained almost every day, and this week may not be much better. My sister in Colorado is getting snow, could be as many as 6-8 inches.

I knew about raisins and grapes. I’m thinking they have to be eaten in huge amounts to be toxic. Coffee isn’t good for dogs but Henry gets a tablespoon or two every morning. He seems none the worse for having it.

      Enjoy your week!

    Hi Kat,

“Apples, and grapes and pears are fruit of the loom, too many fruit and there’ll be no room, on the loom”. From an old SNL skit poking fun at the Fruit of the Loom underwear commercials.

I love fruit, especially the summer varieties such as cherries, peaches, plums and melons. Your post is making me hungry for some grapes in the fridge. Bananas are not one of my favorites.

Another beautiful low 80 degree day.

      Hi Bob,
Now I remember that commercial. Imagine, only a dollar a pair for boys’ briefs. They even now have Fruit of the Loom for girls. I love that old lady.

I’m not a fan of peaches, never have been. I can take or leave plums. I do love melons. Ghana didn’t have them back in my day, but you can buy melons now.

Frozen grapes are a great treat. I like banana bread and bananas in my cereal. Now I get to share with Henry, not the grapes as dogs aren’t supposed to have them.

      It is stil raining!

Although bananas are supposed to be very good for you I don’t like them. Everything I liked was not good for me so why should I change now?

      • katry Says:

        Think bananas and chocolate!
