    I like their pop side though Elvis Costello overproduces a bit. MacGowan’s sentimentality is a little more restrained here than in something like “The Broad Majestic Shannon,” which this song is closely related to.

      Rowen,
      I am a fan of their punk folk music, but I like their pop side more. Some of their punk songs grate and feel harsh to my ears. Fairytale of New York is brilliant.
