“Conversation about the weather is the last refuge of the unimaginative.”

The weather day by day doesn’t change. The clouds just hang around. It is a little warmer but in winter a little warmer only means one less layer. I am in my cozy clothes and have even added socks to my ensemble. The air is still.

Lately I have been watching disaster movies. The Earth has been threatened by aliens, the sun, snow and cold, meteors, zombies and various monsters, even dinosaurs. Some of the movies are truly bad. Sometimes I watch all the way through other times I give up. The first ten minutes are more than enough. I still wonder why anyone would pay to have such bad movies made. In most of them I don’t know any of the actors. I understand why they are in the movie. Work is work and someone might just be discovered. I wish, though, they had thought about the poor audience.

When I was in Ghana, this was the worst time of year for weather. It wasn’t winter, but it was harmattan, desert like weather. The days were so hot that when I’d sit in a chair in my living room (hall to Ghanaians), I always left my body imprint. The wind blew dust everywhere making the air hazy and blocking the sun. I’d shower at night and feel cool for the first time all day as my shower only had cold water. In late February the harmattan would begin to change. The days were hot and humid, the worse combination, and we moved closer to the start of the rainy season, my favorite season.

The Super Bowl is on tonight though I figure I really didn’t need to remind anyone. My Patriots play in yet another championship. I know people hate them, and I understand. I spend a lot of years hating the Yankees. My friends and I are getting together to watch the game. Yelling and moaning and cheering are so much better when you’re in a crowd, even a crowd of three.

    Hi Kat,

Usually I root for the underdog but this year I am rooting against the Rams. Their owner Stan Kroenke moved them out of St. Louis leaving behind not only the frustrated fans but he stuck the city and county with the debt payments of their recently built stadium. Additionally, he is buddies with Jerry Jones of the Cowboys who I think helped engineer their move to LA. One of my coworkers found out from Jerry’s pilot that they are not only buddies but Jerry bought his $300+ million yacht which he will keep in the same marina as Stan’s near the new multi billion dollar stadium being built by the city of LA. Jerry’s yacht is supposedly one foot longer than Stan’s. 🙁 I wonder if they pull down their pants to see who has the biggest “shlong”. 🙂

The poor fans in St. Louis were previously screwed by Bill Bidwell who sneaked out of town while moving the Cardinal football team to Arizona. 🙁 He took that cue from the Colts owner Jim Irsay who sneaked out of Baltimore in the middle of the night and moved them to Indianapolis.

After thinking about all of these slime ball owners I don’t know why I even watch the game. 🙂

Today the high temperature will reach 70 and tomorrow the high is forecasted to reach 80 degrees. 🙁 Those who don’t believe in global warming, like 45, don’t understand that the major effect is weird weather. Let’s see, temperatures in the northern plains was colder than at the North Pole last week followed by high temperature this week in the 50s. A spread of over 90 degrees. 🙁

Have a great evening and enjoy the game.

      Hi Bob,
Being a Patriot’s fan, my choice is an easy one. I always root for the good guys, and here in Boston we al know who the good guys are.

Bob Kraft is a great owner though I am not a fan of his politics. In the old days there was no salary cap or free agency so dynasties were far easier, but despite those restraints Kraft still manages to field remarkable teams from year to year. He built the stadium without money from the state. He was smart and bought the team when it was the worst and built it up to what it is now. They even have their own planes.

It is 36˚ right now with only a high of 39˚. It will get a it warmer the net couple of days.

      • Bob Cohen Says:

Obviously, Kraft is buddy of 45 and all the owners are very wealthy Republicans. It’s an exclusive good old boy’s club.

I give him credit in turning around what was a really bad football team. He obviously loves his team.

    Hi Kat,
It was “warm” enough today that I actually took the dogs for a real walk. They were happy about that. The last week or so it’s been out the door for the necessities only and then right back in to curl up on the couch or, more often, my lap to get warm.

I won’t watch the Super Bowl as I’m not into football. Maybe I’ll watch Puppy Bowl. I’ll eat pizza, though, and maybe some chips and dip.Definitely some ice cream. One must observe the bare minimums. 😀

Enjoy the game and the evening.

      Hi Caryn,

I am a limited football fan as I only watch the Patriots. If they were not in today’s game, I wouldn’t be watching it.

I am bringing dessert while my friend will do the dips and such. I’m about to make my chocolate cream pie.

Have a great evening sans football.

The kids are there. All dressed up in brand new red Pats jerseys and heading for the stadium. Harry Kane is there, how amazing if they can run in to him

With Bob, I can’t stand Kroenke but for other reasons. He is a major tw*t..sure go on a ski trip and marry a Wal Mart Walton. Sure.

We have the pregame on, we want this to be the perfect day for the kids. Never thought I would ever say this but GO PATS

    (May God forgive me)

    • katry Says:

      My Dear Hedley,
The kids show great taste. I will don my red Patriot’s sweatshirt. Why is Harry Kane there?

I don’t know about many other managers, but I knew about Kroenke. Sneaking teams out of town is dastardly.

All right Hedley!! I will watch the Puppy bowl at 3, always a favorite.

      • Hedley Says:

Kat, it would seem that Harry is a big fan of the Pats. He is currently injured and took a private to Atlanta

Nike did make a limited edition Harry Kane football jersey

      • katry Says:

        MDH,
It seems that Harry has great taste and a bit of money.

I’ve got my Patriot’s sweatshirt on and am getting ready for the game!

    • Bob Cohen Says:

I didn’t know how Stan got his money. In my next life I’m marrying for money instead of love. 🙂 Even if it doesn’t work out I’ll be sure to get a good settlement in the prenup.

      • Hedley Says:

Firstly can you ski ? and secondly will God bless you with the moment of being on a ski slope with the heiress to a retail fortune ? I am assuming that if you are given this she will naturally fall in love with you.

This is the definition of a self made man

      • katry Says:

I didn’t marry, but I also didn’t know anyone with money. I’d want enough ti travel all over the world/

      • Bob Cohen Says:

Of course, Stan might be a tiger in the bedroom where his tool won her heart. 🙂

      • katry Says:

Maybe, but the money to me is longer lasting!

  4. olof1 Says:

I do like disaster movies but I have never really got the thing with zombies 🙂 They are slow, don’t say much and looks to be very easy to kill even though they already are dead 🙂 🙂 The rest of the disasters I buy though no matter how impossible they are 🙂 🙂

It as colder again today and tonight is way too cold. I took a look at my car earlier and I’ll have a huge problem getting rid of all the ice before I drive to work tomorrow morning. Frozen water drops covered in snow that sort of melted together with the ice.

My work friend who is a huge Patriot fan has taken the day off tomorrow, he always does when it’s the Super Bowl. I guess there’s a big chance he’ll be happy with the results 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

    • katry Says:

      Christer,
I think the zombies travel in groups, more than enough then to overcome the poor victims. I don’t much like them either.

When I worked, I left so early it was dark. I hated scraping the windshield but I had no choice. Sometimes I would run the car a bit to soften the ice. I also hated when the snow got crusty on the windshield. I used to and it several times to clear the windshield.

I hope your friend will e happy tomorrow!

      Have a great day!

  5. Birgit Says:

Have fun tonight and good luck!

  6. Bob Cohen Says:

    Hi Kat,

    Congrats to the Pats.

    • katry Says:

      Thanks, Bob,

It was such a low scoring game. I was so glad for that interception. The game was sealed for the Pats then.

  7. hedley Says:

Might I suggest that given the absolutely awful performance by Maroon 5 at half time, that they and their clown leader Adam receive the ubiquitous lifetime ban from KTCC ?
