“I can make another list because the choice is mine. A list of what to do. So I won’t be listless ever again.”

Today is ugly with its sky full of clouds. It’s still jacket cold. Nothing tempts me to go outside, that’s Henry’s purview. I choose to stay home, warm and cozy until tonight, game night with my friends. I love our movie nights in the summer and our game nights in the winter when we play Sorry and Phase 10. For the summer, I already have a list of movies, all pretty much awful, but one, Demon with the Atomic Brain, is worst than the others and defies description.

Henry’s new collar came yesterday. I have sized it but I guessed as I haven’t yet put it on him. Henry stayed away from me for two days after I checked him for what I thought was a tick. Today I am allowed to pat and scratch his favorite spots so I’ll hold off on the collar for a couple of days. This new collar is the same color as his halter, purely happenstance, and both hang off the knot on the back door.

I haven’t yet figured out being 71, but I don’t think it’s old anymore. When I look at the obits in the Cape paper, their ages are listed beside their names. Most times we’re talking 80’s and 90’s. That gives me comfort. I have many more years left before my face and age appear. I see pictures on Facebook of my high school classmates. I always think I look younger than they do, but then again I might just be a bit biased.

My frenzied cleaning continues. Yesterday I went through the cabinets and removed all the past date jars and cans. I have figured out I need to put the new foods in the back though it is convenient to put them anywhere especially the front. I found some jars three years over their best use by dates. I figure I need to keep a list of what I have, things like soup and tomato sauce. Just what I need, another list from the consummate list maker.

We’ve had snow, fog, snow again, rain and now some more snow today. Thankfully Albin isn’t a winter dog so we came home pretty fast when we were out walking 🙂 🙂

Albin stayed away from me for a couple of hours when I tried to check a cut he has on his front leg 🙂 🙂 He can’t stay away much longer since he ants food and nothing can stop him from getting his food 🙂 🙂

It is rare to find anyone younger than 80 in the obituaries now days. I agree though, all my old friends at the same age as I do look much older than I do 🙂 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
We haven’t had snow to speak of though we had a little dusting, not even an inch.

Henry stays away from me every time I try to do something like put on a leash or adjust his collar. I get a bit frustrated, but I don’t try to push me on him.

That’s true about the obits. Most around here have lived long lives.

And so it will come to pass that the K.C. Chiefs and Uncle Eric will dance next Sunday with team Kraft and their Michigan Quarterback.
Oh boy, I have natural conflict with Birgit in the Champions League and now it includes Kat and Team Odious.

      MDH,
You mean you won’t wait until the game is over to figure out KC’s opponent. I will come up with a nickname for KC!!!

    Hi Kat,
It looks like your team will live to play next week while my Cowboys will have to wait till next year. 🙁

The collar will show up as soon as you put the new one around Henry’s neck.

Like you I don’t know how 71 is supposed to feel. I keep getting fliers in the mail for hearing aids and senior living facilities. I don’t even open the envelopes and just put them in the trash. Those things are for old people. 🙂

The sun made an appearance this morning but the clouds have rolled in again and the temperature dropped into upper 30s.

      Hi Bob,
The Pats will have a tough team in KC to play. That game, I think, will be far different than this was. Brady was again superb today.

When I went upstairs to get dressed, I felt something in the pocket of my pants. It was the collar. The new one came yesterday. If my friends hadn’t called me about game night I wouldn’t have taken the pants off the hook. I think I put the collar in that pocket to hide it from Henry when I was trying to put it on him.

I also just trash the mail for old people. A free ear test has been sent several times. It quickly gets trashed. I do belong to AARP as it has a great magazine and wonderful offers.

No sun appeared at all today, and it is really cold now that it is dark.

Neither of us are members of AARP. I can’t give in to joining and being old. They are just a cover organization for selling insurance under the guise of being a lobby group advocating for the aged. It’s the same kind of thing as AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilot Organization) which I never joined. It’s another lobby group that really sells aircraft insurance. 🙁

      • katry Says:

You can join at age 55. I held off a long time thinking it made me old, but I changed my mind with all the benefits. You get travel at a discount, cheaper movie tickets and an assortment of other for goodies. My friends urged me to join so I did.

“Demon with the Atomic Brain” sounds like a great bad movie 🙂
Rainy and dark here, I’m thinking of hibernation.
    Have fun tonight!

      Birgit,
It is a really great bad movie. I groaned several times. My friends will really love it.

I think all this cleaning is due to the weather, and I think of it as hibernation of a sort.

It was a fun night though I lost at the games.
