The weather today is cloudy, dark and damp. It poured so much last night that Henry wouldn’t go outside. I worried but he made it through the night without needing to go out; however, he did throw up, and I didn’t sense him jumping off the bed or hear him being sick. The poor baby!
When I checked the deck from the window, I noticed a few things gone awry. One of the feeders usually hanging off the deck was missing, a suet feeder had been stripped of its suet and was on the deck and the other suet feeder was all twisted around its hanger. Water had accumulated on two of the waterproof furniture covers. I went outside to put the deck aright. It is chilly out, and the deck has a cover of wet leaves so I went slowly so as not to slip. I collected the missing feeder from the ground and turned off the hose. I emptied the water from the covers and went to put the feeder back when I noticed the metal which keeps the feeder closed was all bent. A spawn of Satan must have been frustrated at not being able to get the seed so it tried to open the feeder by the metal hanger. The feeder now hangs crookedly on its hook. I need more mixed seed.
Last night I cooked a real meal. Usually I do what’s easy like cereal, crackers and cheese or a sandwich. Last night I dined on curry pilaf and chicken shawarma. The meat came from Trader Joe’s. Henry was hoping for some, but the food was too hotly seasoned for him. He had to make do with a piece of cheese. I have enough left over for dinner tonight.
In Ghana, most of the food I’d buy in a chop bar ( a hole in the wall restaurant) was so hot it sometimes burned my lips. I got used to some heat but not when it was lip burning. When I ate in, Thomas, my cook, never used hot pepper. Once he used cinnamon my mother had sent. He couldn’t read and had no idea what it was. The food was inedible.
Today is so ugly I doubt I’ll go out. I see a nap in my future.

Unfortunately, I have a ‘tenderfoot’ mouth and don’t like food that is spicy hot, especially curry. Of course the resulting pain at the other end the next day is also not pleasant. 🙂 I do like Sharwama and other middle eastern dishes.
Today is our 33rd anniversary and I can’t believe how fast the time went by and how different we looked in our wedding pictures. 🙂 Older and hopefully wiser.
Last night the temperature got down to 35 degrees with sunny skies today.

Curry doesn’t have to be hot. The curry I make is not hot. It relies on the flavor of the spices to taste like curry. Heat covers that flavor. Both dishes were hot last night.
Wow, Congrats! I figure all of us get wiser as we age though in different degrees of wise. Are you and your wife doing something special?

Thanks, it’s either love or stubbornness. 🙂 The only curry I have ever eaten was fairly hot and I just don’t like the taste regardless of the heat. We went out for an anniversary lunch and then stopped by Trader Joe’s to pick up a couple of bottles of Two Buck Chuck wine for later.

Bob,
Some people just don’t like the taste of curry. My curry is the most often requested dish I cook. The rice on the bottom is topped with a variety of fruits which cut any heat from the chicken curry which tops the whole dish.

Hi Kat,
Poor Henry. It’s no fun having to go in the driving rain. Piki Dog and Rocky hate it but Rocky will go. Piki Dog has standards and refuses to go if they are not met. I boot him out the door and he will pee quickly.
Last night I made tomato, carrot, hot dog, chickpea bisque. I opened a can of tomato carrot bisque and added in the hot dog and chickpeas. It was easy. It wasn’t bad but not something I’ll do again. The can of soup had been hanging around and needed to be used. Lunch today was roasted butternut squash with grilled bacon bratwurst. That was good. Dinner will probably be an egg or nothing.
This morning was dreary and damp. Right now the wind is blowing briskly and the sun is shining brightly. There is a wind chill factor.

Hi Caryn,
I tried booting Henry but he just kept turning around and trying to get back inside. I decided to give in. He made me feel guilty.
I like the sound of your lunch. Mine was just crackers with fig jam. Leftovers tonight. Your last night’s dinner didn’t tickle my taste buds. It just seems too strange a combination.
We got maybe 10 minutes of sun. The day was mostly cloudy and dreary. The wind is still blowing. Ugly day all around.

It’s a busy week, music festival, Nov 9 1938 commemoration, today we had a chorus concert, I think my last real meal was Monday or Tuesday. It’s not too bad to live on bananas, chocolate, yoghurt, hot cocoa and beer for a while. Who needs meals when you can have music 🙂
I hope Henry feels better now.

Henry seems fine. He had no problem keeping down his dinner and a few pieces of cheese. I wish I knew what in the heck he ate. I am thinking suet from outside, but I thought I got it all.
I had my leftovers for dinner and have enough for lunch tomorrow. I live on what’s easy, not healthy, just easy.

Albin can refuse to go outside when it rains unless he really needs to go, those times he’s very fast in getting back in though 🙂 🙂 I’ve learned by now that dogs puke and that it doesn’t have to mean anything but I do hope he’s better now.
Grey and dull here this morning but warmish so it’s quite nice outside anyway. All the hunters have now left so we finally can go out into the forest and out on the bog again.
I do like hot and spicy food but never makes it myself for some reason but often order it when eating elsewhere.

Henry seems to be fine right now though last night I did find him eating fronds from a spider plant. I looked around and the only plant he could have eaten meant standing against the wall to get at the fronds.
Sunny finally here but cold. My sister in Colorado is expecting 8 inches of snow. She has 3 or 4 now. She can have it!
Ghana had nothing but spicy food unless you ate somewhere like a Lebanese restaurant.
