Heroes: David Bowie
Thousands of David Bowie fans paid emotional tributes to the star today following his death, setting up impromptu shrines all across the world.
The iconic singer, whose new album came out just last week, died from cancer aged 69 in New York City yesterday surrounded by his family.
It also comes one week after Bowie sent Brian Eno, a frequent collaborator, a farewell email saying: ‘Thank you for our good times, Brian, they will never rot.’

Sad and unexpected news.
Bowie’s music and tributes on nearly every radio and TV station here too today and especially this Berlin era song is often played which he also recorded in German back then. Berlin has Bowie-Iggy-1970s tourist tours for some years now and I’ve seen lots of flowers at their old Berlin home on TV today.
I never really was a Bowie fan because of his voice but his musical influence was huge and surprisingly I liked the Blackstar songs I could hear so far. Maybe it’s the real Bowie behind the many masquerades? Who knows.

I was astounded when I heard that he had died and then to hear he had cancer.
From what Hedley has said, his new album is remarkable and one song in particular hinted at his death.
I am a Bowie fan sometimes and sometimes I’m not. It’s a song by song sort of thing.

This is such an amazing rendition. He makes the conversation true, one person talking to another. The beginning of the video with the immigrants, the black and white shots is the perfect start to this.
