“The world was hers for the reading.”

No question about the day: it’s a late fall day, a pre-winter sort of day when the air is cold, the sun is shining providing light but no heat and the sky is a brilliant blue, the sort of blue which only comes in the clear air of a cold day. The leaves still left on the trees in the backyard are brown. I look outside and it is uninviting, even with the sun. I’ll venture out later to fill the feeders and pick up some paper towels Gracie stole from the trash bag on the kitchen floor. She is quite particular about what she takes and she always sneaks out the dog door with her treasures. I’ve yet to catch her in the act.

I’m watching the worst movie, a 1940 film called Out West with the Peppers, a sequel to The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew which I watched a few weeks ago. I chose it over a syfy channel film about a creature which lives on light and energy, a creature which looks a lot like the crawling roots of a tree. I read a few books from The Five Little Peppers’ series when I was young. I got the first book for Christmas one year so I figure it’s a bit of nostalgia which has me watching.

I have nothing planned for the day except the usual: make the bed, take a shower and get dressed in sloppy comfortable clothes. I’m thinking I might even fold and bring up the laundry which has been sitting in the dryer for a few days. There’s also a cabinet which could use some organizing so that goes on the possibility list. That’s about all I can come up with for now. I figure it’s enough.

Today the sky is clear and cool this morning. It will be a beautiful 65 degrees this afternoon.

Like you today is a day to recuperate. I have never seen the Five Little Peppers series of films. I am not sure that they are high on my list of things to see 🙂

      Bob,
65˚ is perfect! It will be in the 40’s today and the 30′ tonight. I can feel the chill coming in through the back storm door so I’m closing the inside door. Gracie will have to ring her bells if she wants out.

Don’t even put them on your list!!

    Hi Kat,
I’ve been out 3 times so far. I’m off crutches and on to a cane so I decided to see if my jeep would start. I was too chicken to drive to the Starbucks with a drivethru so I stopped at Dunkins. Ugh!
Then I went outside to chat with the neighbor. He said he was going to cut his lawn one more time and would do the part of mine that needed it as well. I said I had to clean up the dog doodoo first but he said he would do that, too, since he had his own dog doodoo to clean. Good neighbors are a blessing.
My last outing was to hobble to my other neighbors house with their mail. The Saturday mailperson has some strange way of sorting the mail so that if he misses a house, everyone after that gets the next neighbor’s mail. I did really want to look through the Victoria’s Secrets catalogue but, since it wasn’t mine, I didn’t. I don’t tamper with the mail. 🙂
Sunny up here. About the same temperature but no wind so being in the sun is not unpleasant.
Enjoy the Peppers! I know of them but have not seen or read.

      Hi Caryn,
Three rimes-you are definitely on the move! Just don’t try and do more than you should because you are anxious to be out and about!!

I want that neighbor to move down here. Ask him if he’s into ocean and beaches. When I had surgery, my friend and neighbor Clare was here every day with food. She even did my laundry. My neighbor across the street brought over the paper every day. They were great! No dog doodoo though-the backyard is hers.

No sun left here, just a dismal day!

      Remember: don’t do too much!!

No one has brought me food except the pizza delivery guy. I was dying for the cold diet Pepsi that would be coming with my sub. I paid the guy, hobbled back to my couch, opened the bag and found……
        Lemon Brisk Tea.

        I was not pleased.

        Resting up. 🙂

Katmah, you think that was rubbish ? You should have seen Tottenham this morning.

    • Kat Says:

      My Dear Hedley,
Is there ever good news with Tottenham? I hope someday your loyalty will be rewarded!

      • Hedley Says:

Nope…we are rubbish and we know it, just don’t get relegated. Won the league in 61, FA Cup last time in 91, league cup in 2008. Long long gaps with very little….but as they always say, you can change your wife but you can’t change your football team

I’ve never heard about the little Peppers so I would have watched the other film 🙂 I’ve mostly napped today and baked a bread but that’s it. The sky is grey and the promised fog never showed up. I think I’ll make an early evening today. I hope the fog comes they promise for tomorrow comes, sun is useless to hope for 🙂 🙂 🙂

    Have a great day!
    Christer.

    • Kat Says:

      Christers,
They are a poor family with 5 kids and a devoted mother. They end up with a new home and money. I just couldn’t take more monster mayhem.

I never got to the cabinet but I did shower and change the cat litter. I also napped. Mostly a quiet day.

Good luck with the weather tomorrow!

  5. Kat Says:

    Oh Caryn,
I can feel that disappointment!! I think I would have called back!!

  6. Cuidado Says:

I remember the Peppers in book form from childhood. Didn’t know there was a movie.
